Wilshire advises on over $1 trillion in assets for some of the world's largest and most sophisticated institutional investors and is headquartered in the United States with offices worldwide.The Hedge Fund Research VP has extensive experience in conducting thorough research and analysis to support the sourcing, evaluating, and monitoring of hedge fund managers across various strategies within the financial services industry. This role is responsible for analyzing market trends, conducting in-depth due diligence, and providing recommendations to support the firm's investment objectives. This role requires a deep understanding of hedge fund strategies, strong analytical skills, and the ability to build and maintain relationships with fund managers and industry peers. The hedge fund strategies that will be analyzed will be both systematic and fundamental in nature, and as a result understanding hedge fund trading strategies, styles are a pre-requisite. Having a quantitative or finance or economic background is a requirement.What you'll do:Source and evaluate hedge fund managers across different strategies, including CTA, Quant, Global Macro, Emerging Markets, Commodities, and Risk PremiaConduct thorough due diligence on potential investment opportunities, including analyzing performance, strategy, risk management, and quantitative analysis based on the fund returnsStay informed about industry developments, market dynamics, and macroeconomic trends that may impact hedge fund strategiesMonitor the performance of existing hedge fund investments on an ongoing basis, including monthly and intra-monthly reviews if requiredMake timely recommendations regarding portfolio adjustments, redemptions, and resizing based on performance and market dynamicsDevelop and maintain relationships with hedge fund managers, prime brokers, and other industry participantsProactively identify and assess risks associated with hedge fund investments, including liquidity risk, counterparty risk, and operational riskBachelor's degree or equivalent experienceMinimum 7-10 years of experience in hedge fund research or related area within the financial services industryDeep knowledge of hedge fund strategies, investment vehicles, and market dynamics across different asset classesExcellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with fund managers, clients, and industry peersThis position will work on a hybrid model out of our New York officeWe offer a comprehensive benefits package including a collaborative work environment, generous PTO, 401(k) match, affordable & comprehensive medical/dental/vision insurance, CFA and other professional membership reimbursement, and more.The pay range for this position is $110,000 - $170,000 salary. However, base pay will be determined on an individual basis considering various factors, including location, qualifications, skills, and experience. The total compensation package includes eligibility for an annual discretionary bonus and a full range of health and financial benefit offerings, which will be provided in conjunction with an offer of employment.
