Business Development & Marketing Specialist

Direct Counsel represents a prestigious AmLaw firm seeking a Business Development & Marketing Specialist to support its Business Department. This opportunity is ideal for an experienced marketing and business development professional with a background in legal or professional services marketing, particularly within Private Equity, M&A, Venture Capital, Securities, or other corporate practice areas.

The ideal candidate will be proactive, detail-oriented, collaborative, and strategic, with strong project management and communication skills. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with attorneys, practice group leaders, and senior marketing leadership on high-impact business development initiatives, client development strategies, pitches, events, and brand-building efforts.

Responsibilities:

• Support business development and marketing initiatives for the Business Department and related practice groups
• Assist with the preparation and coordination of RFPs, pitches, proposals, and client presentations
• Draft and customize marketing materials and responses for targeted business development opportunities
• Conduct market research, competitive analysis, client research, and industry trend analysis
• Maintain and update proposal tracking systems and marketing databases
• Coordinate internal and external events, sponsorships, webinars, and client-facing programs
• Draft and distribute e-communications, alerts, newsletters, and attorney announcements
• Collaborate with attorneys and marketing leadership to identify cross-selling and client growth opportunities
• Assist with directory submissions, rankings, awards, and survey responses
• Maintain practice group marketing materials, attorney biographies, and website content
• Track experience management and client activity within CRM and database systems
• Coordinate with public relations and communications teams on profile-raising initiatives
• Support budget tracking, invoice processing, and expense reconciliation
• Assist with additional marketing and business development projects as needed

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree required
• Minimum of 4 years of marketing or business development experience within a law firm (Am Law experience preferred) or professional services environment
• Legal marketing experience strongly preferred
• Experience supporting Private Equity, M&A, Venture Capital, Securities, or Corporate practice groups strongly encouraged
• Strong project management, organizational, and analytical skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines and work effectively in a fast-paced environment
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across departments and seniority levels
• Interest in innovation and AI applications within professional services environments
• Demonstrated professionalism, attention to detail, and client service orientation

Compensation & Benefits:

• Salary range: $100,000 – $120,000 annually
