The property offers 73 guest rooms and 12 single-level penthouse residences, all with sweeping views of Idaho's Rocky Mountains. Guests and owners will enjoy an elevated level of personalized service and an extensive amenity suite, including a 5,700-square-foot full-service spa, a 1,500-square-foot fitness center, six treatment rooms, an indoor thermal pool, cold plunge, sauna, and steam rooms. A state-of-the-art rooftop observatory and outdoor terrace bar will provide unobstructed access to the Central Idaho Dark Sky Reserve, the first designated preserve of its kind in the U.S. and one of only 12 globally.

Overview

Located at the southeast corner of Main Street and River Street East—the gateway to downtown Ketchum, Idaho—and just minutes from Bald Mountain's River Run base, this exceptional property will debut as Sun Valley's first luxury hotel and for-sale residence offering. As part of the Viceroy team, you'll help bring our signature experiential hospitality to one of North America's most iconic, year-round mountain destinations.

The Assistant Spa Director supports the Spa Director in the daily operation of the spa, ensuring exceptional guest experiences, operational excellence, and achievement of financial goals. This leadership position assists in overseeing spa operations, team performance, revenue generation, guest satisfaction, and compliance with company standards. The Assistant Spa Director plays a key role in cultivating a luxury wellness environment while supporting recruitment, training, and development of the spa team.

In a newly opened spa environment, this role is instrumental in establishing operational procedures, building team culture, optimizing scheduling and productivity, and driving guest awareness and utilization of spa services.

Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Development

· Assist in recruiting, onboarding, training, and mentoring spa colleagues.

· Foster a culture of luxury hospitality, wellness, professionalism, and accountability.

· Support performance management, coaching, and development initiatives.

· Lead daily line-ups, departmental meetings, and ongoing service training.

· Act as Manager on Duty for spa operations in the absence of the Spa Director

Guest Experience

· Ensure delivery of exceptional and personalized guest experiences.

· Resolve guest concerns promptly and professionally.

· Monitor guest satisfaction scores and implement service improvements.

· Maintain luxury service standards across all treatment and wellness areas.

· Build relationships with hotel guests, members, and local clientele.

Operations Management

· Oversee daily spa operations including reception, reservations, retail, treatment areas, locker facilities, and wellness amenities.

· Ensure compliance with health, safety, sanitation, and licensing requirements.

· Manage scheduling to maximize therapist utilization and guest availability.

· Monitor inventory levels and coordinate ordering of retail and professional products.

· Support implementation and optimization of spa management systems and operating procedures.

Financial Performance

· Assist in achieving revenue, profitability, and productivity goals.

· Monitor daily revenue reports, labor costs, treatment productivity, and retail performance.

· Support forecasting, budgeting, and financial analysis.

· Identify opportunities to increase treatment utilization, retail sales, and guest capture rates.

· Ensure proper controls for cash handling, inventory, and expense management.

Sales & Business Development

· Promote spa services, wellness programs, memberships, and retail offerings.

· Partner with hotel departments to increase spa awareness and bookings.

· Assist in developing promotions, packages, and seasonal offerings.

· Support local marketing initiatives and community partnerships.

· Drive weekday utilization and repeat visitation through strategic outreach and guest engagement.

Pre-Opening & Growth Support

· Assist in developing and refining spa operating procedures and service standards.

· Support hiring initiatives and staffing plans during growth periods.

· Participate in vendor relationships, product training, and operational setup.

· Help establish a positive culture and strong team engagement during the spa's growth phase.

· Monitor business trends and recommend strategies to improve utilization and profitability.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3–5 years of spa leadership experience in a luxury hotel, resort, or destination spa environment.

• Experience supervising therapists, spa coordinators, and guest service teams.

• Strong knowledge of spa operations, wellness trends, treatment offerings, and retail programs.

• Proven ability to drive revenue while maintaining luxury service standards.

• Experience with spa management and reservation systems preferred.

• Strong financial acumen and understanding of budgeting, forecasting, and labor management.

• Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.

• Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends and holidays.
