The Prior Authorization Pharmacy Technician supports the outpatient pharmacy operations by managing the end-to-end prior-authorization process for medications, services, and procedures. This role ensures timely submission of accurate documentation to payers, monitors authorizations and denials, collaborates with clinical and provider teams, and helps optimize reimbursement while safeguarding patient access to therapy.

Performs duties of a Registered Technician under the direction of a supervising pharmacist to support daily pharmacy operations. This position performs routine and clerical function for drug distribution to patients and can perform independently within their scope of responsibility.

Education: High School Degree or Equivalent Work Experience: 0-6months Current registration as a Pharmacy Technician by the State of South Carolina Board of Pharmacy (SCBOP) is required and must be maintained. Must obtain and maintain Pharmacy Technician Certification (Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or Exam for the Certification of Pharmacy Technicians (ExCPT)) certification:

• Team members as of 11/1/2023: within 1 year of 11/1/2023.
• New Team members as of 11/1/2023: within 6 months of hire.
• New team members who are enrolled or will enroll in a pharmacy technician training program accredited by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) and/or recognized by PTCB, have 30 days post program completion to obtain certification.
