Job Title: General Production Worker 2nd Shift Press Operator Job Description

This role focuses on operating press machinery to produce valve steam and seal components in a physically demanding, high-heat manufacturing environment. You will load and unload rubber materials and parts, monitor multiple presses once trained, and perform basic quality and production documentation tasks. The position requires consistent lifting at and above waist level, attention to detail, and the ability to work safely and efficiently on a fast-paced 2nd shift schedule.

• Start up production machinery according to established procedures and safety guidelines.
• Load and lift raw rubber materials and parts into mold machines at and above waist level, including lifting up to 50 pounds to heights of approximately 5.5 feet.
• Operate 24 presses simultaneously once fully trained, ensuring smooth and efficient production flow.
• Shut down and unload machinery at the end of each run or shift, following proper lockout and safety protocols.
• Perform visual quality checks on finished products to confirm they meet specifications and standards.
• Document production information on job tickets, including number of parts run, scrap counts, and other required data.
• Use basic addition and subtraction to accurately record and verify production metrics.
• Follow all workplace safety rules, particularly related to working in high-heat, non-climate-controlled areas and lifting heavy materials.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area around presses and material handling stations.
• Collaborate with team members and trainers during initial training on 1st shift and ongoing development on 2nd shift.

• Ability to consistently lift up to 50 pounds to heights up to approximately 5 feet.
• Comfort working in a non-climate-controlled environment that can reach temperatures up to approximately 110 degrees during peak summer.
• Basic math skills, including addition and subtraction, to complete production documentation accurately.
• Ability to document production details on job tickets, including parts produced, scrap quantities, and related information.
• Experience working in non-climate-controlled facilities.
• Physical stamina to perform repetitive lifting, loading, and unloading at and above waist level throughout the shift.
• Reliability and ability to maintain consistent attendance, especially during the initial 90-day probationary period.
• Willingness to work 2nd shift hours (MondaySaturday, 2pm10pm) and occasional extended hours as needed.

• Previous manufacturing experience is preferred.
• Prior experience as a press operator or machine operator is a plus.
• Comfort working in a physically demanding, hot environment with continuous production activity.
• Ability to learn and operate multiple presses simultaneously after training.
• Strong attention to detail for visual quality inspection and accurate documentation.
• Willingness to participate in a structured attendance and point-based time-off program.
• Openness to working optional 1012 hour days to increase weekly hours when available.

The work takes place in a clean, organized, smaller manufacturing facility that operates in a hot, non-climate-controlled environment. Temperatures can reach around 110 degrees during peak summer, and the position is physically demanding with frequent lifting up to 50 pounds at and above waist level, including working at tables around 3.5 feet high and loading/unloading trays up to approximately 5.5 feet. Numerous fans are installed in aisle ways to improve air circulation, although they cannot blow directly on the presses. The standard schedule is 2nd shift, Monday through Saturday, 2pm10pm, with optional opportunities to add 24 hours before or after the scheduled shift for extended days and occasional Sundays when production is behind. Initial training occurs on 1st shift (6am2pm) before transitioning to 2nd shift. The facility is cigarette-free during working hours and paid lunches, with designated areas available for e-cigarettes and chewing tobacco.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Avilla, IN.

The pay range for this position is $20.85 - $21.85/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
