What You’ll Do The Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Specialist is responsible for auditing and maintaining facility EHS systems. This position ensures the facility is operating according to EHS procedures and notifies management when deviations from these standards are noted. Location: 210 Industrial Parkway, Branchburg, NJ, 08876 Work Schedule: Monday – Friday 7:00am-4:00pm, overtime as needed Starting Pay Rate: $60,000/year – $75,000/year, depending upon experience Responsibilities Drive all company safety policies, practices and procedures to ensure 100% compliance Act as in-plant voice for EHS related issues; concentrating on at risk behaviors and conditions throughout the facility Verify compliance with EHS standards, through auditing, observations, inspections, and program reviews Maintain and administer all EHS programs, ensuring they are current, effective, and aligned with company and regulatory requirements Track EHS programs, including training, roll-out compliance, and safety inspections; notify management of any deficiencies Lead the Safety Committee and support site leadership in driving safety engagement and accountability Support first aid response and emergency readiness efforts Lead accident investigations and drive corrective actions to prevent recurrence Maintain OSHA logs, incident records, permits, and other required EHS documentation in accordance with company standards Conduct new hire orientation safety orientation and ensure completion of all related onboarding and training documentation Lead weekly safety walks with leadership to identify hazards and drive continuous improvement Facilitate and participate in weekly safety presentation with business segment Develop and manage monthly safety calendars, coordinating training, audits, and toolbox talks, and key safety initiatives to drive compliance, engagement, and reporting to leadership Manage SDS documentation and conduct chemical approval audits prior to introducing new materials Maintain EHS documentation filing systems according to the company requirements Update Safety Visual Workplace boards and provide facility-wide safety communications Maintain PPE vending systems and emergency preparedness kits in partnership with vendors Implement Lean Six Sigma and Kaizen safety process improvement opportunities throughout the plant Qualifications Bachelor’s degree required Experience implementing EHS programs in an industrial or manufacturing environment Knowledgeable of local, state and federal EHS guidelines and requirements Demonstrates initiative, takes a proactive approach, and encourages others to stay motivated Strong communication skills both written and verbal Demonstrates accountability, maintains high integrity, and exhibits a strong work ethic Proficient in computer systems, including Microsoft 365 applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams) Ability to multitask, prioritize workload, and apply strong problem solving Detail-oriented with accurate data entry skills Strong time management and organizational skills Passion for employee engagement, with a willingness to spend adequate time on the floor First Aid and CPR training/certified preferred or ability to get certified in 90 days CI/Lean certification a plus Able to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen Demonstrates commitment to your team members and accountability for safety and quality What You’ll Enjoy A collaborative work environment with a clear strategy and goals A competitive base salary and profit‑sharing program Comprehensive benefits package – medical, dental, eye care and life insurance – Benefits start first of the month following hire 401k Retirement Savings Plan – Up to 4% match, 100% vested after 6 months Challenging and meaningful work and the chance to participate on cross‑functional teams across the company Development opportunities: We recognize potential in our people and strive to offer various opportunities for advancement, training, and personal growth Family‑oriented culture, focused on putting our people first Metrie embraces diversity and is committed to creating an inclusive environment where all team members and customers belong.
