Telecommunications Specialist

This is not a traditional telecom support role focused on tickets, user adds/moves/changes, or day-to-day administration. Instead, this person will help design, troubleshoot, improve, and support enterprise telecom solutions across a large retail environment. The ideal candidate is a strong telecom engineer who understands the bigger picture and can work across telecom, networking, security, integrations, and infrastructure teams. What You’ll Be Doing Design and support enterprise voice solutions Manage SIP and VoIP environments Support Session Border Controllers (SBCs) Work with Teams Voice and contact center technologies Troubleshoot complex telecom issues Assist with infrastructure vulnerability management Solution Development Research new technologies Test solutions in lab environments Pilot new capabilities before production rollout Create technical standards and documentation Work with operations teams to transition solutions into production Cross-Functional Collaboration You’ll regularly work with: Network teams Firewall teams Security teams Database teams Development teams Operations/support teams What a Typical Day Looks Like Lab testing and validation Investigating technical issues Working with infrastructure teams Creating and updating documentation Supporting technology pilots Researching new solutions and improvements This role is best suited for someone who enjoys solving problems and building solutions rather than handling routine operational tasks. Required Skills Telecom SIP VoIP SBCs (Session Border Controllers) Infrastructure Firewall troubleshooting RTP traffic analysis F5 load balancers General infrastructure knowledge Integrations REST APIsJSON System integrations Data flow troubleshooting Nice-to-Have Skills Five9 Contact Center Retail industry experience Automation mindset This is not a software development role, but candidates should understand how integrations and automation work. On-Call Expectations Approximately one on-call rotation every 10 weeks Primary and backup support structure Location Strong preference for candidates located in the Cincinnati area.
