Step into a rewarding contract opportunity supporting students as a 6th-grade special education teacher. This vibrant role focuses on individualized learning, collaboration, and building student confidence at a pivotal stage in their academic journey.
Your week will involve teaching a dedicated special education ELA class of 12 students, providing personalized instruction and fostering an inclusive, growth-oriented environment. You will also co-teach in two general education classrooms—one ELA and one science—offering targeted interventions and working closely with fellow educators to enhance student engagement. An additional highlight of your schedule is leading a WIN class: a structured study hall tailored for special education students, offering guidance and organizational support to help them succeed across subject areas.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid Special Education Teacher certification (or eligibility in the state)
- Experience or strong interest in working with middle school students
- Knowledge of ELA and science instructional strategies for diverse learners
- Collaborative mindset, comfortable co-teaching and sharing ideas
- Strong communication skills with both students and colleagues
- Commitment to fostering resilience and academic growth
Responsibilities:
- Deliver instructional support to a small-group ELA class, differentiated to student needs
- Co-teach effectively in general education classrooms, promoting access to grade-level content
- Provide structure and support in the WIN period, helping students with organization and study skills
- Collaborate on IEP development and implementation, ensuring compliance and best practices
- Track student progress, communicating achievement and growth opportunities with families and staff
