The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for administering key People & Culture programs and employee lifecycle processes while ensuring compliance with company policies and employment laws. This role serves as a trusted resource to employees and management by supporting employee relations, leave administration, benefits administration, onboarding and offboarding, HR compliance, and workforce planning initiatives. The HR Generalist partners closely with leadership, employees, third-party vendors, and external partners to deliver effective HR services that support organizational goals and foster a positive employee experience.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Employee Relations & HR Administration
- Serve as a primary point of contact for employee questions regarding HR policies, procedures, benefits, leave programs, and employment practices.
- Assist managers with employee relations matters, performance management, coaching, corrective actions, and employee development.
- Maintain employee personnel files, HRIS records, and employment documentation in accordance with company policies and legal requirements.
- Ensure confidentiality and integrity of all employee records and sensitive information.
- Maintain and update HR policies, forms, procedures, and employee communications.
Leave Administration & Compliance
- Administer employee leave programs including FMLA, Paid Family Leave (PFL), ADA accommodations, military leave, and other applicable leave programs.
- Coordinate leave requests, communicate with employees and managers, and maintain accurate leave documentation.
- Manage unemployment claims, hearings, documentation, and responses while coordinating with third-party administrators as needed.
- Monitor compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
- Assist with HR audits, compliance reporting, and record retention requirements.
Onboarding, Offboarding & Asset Management
- Coordinate employee onboarding and offboarding processes to ensure a positive and compliant employee experience.
- Partner with department leaders to facilitate employee system access, equipment setup, and access termination.
- Track and manage company assets assigned to employees, including laptops, mobile devices, badges, keys, and other company property.
- Conduct offboarding activities and ensure the return of company assets and removal of system access.
Benefits, Payroll & Vendor Administration
- Serve as a liaison between employees and benefits providers regarding enrollment, eligibility, and benefit-related questions.
- Assist with payroll administration by ensuring employee data changes are accurately processed and communicated.
- Support annual open enrollment activities and benefits administration.
- Partner with brokers, carriers, and third-party vendors to support employee benefits programs.
- Maintain strong working knowledge of benefits plans, policies, and employee eligibility requirements.
PEO & HRIS Administration
- Serve as a primary point of contact and administrator for relationships with Professional Employer Organizations (PEOs), ensuring accurate employee data management, compliance, payroll coordination, and benefits administration.
- Collaborate with PEO representatives to resolve employee issues, maintain compliance, and support organizational objectives.
- Maintain and administer the isolved Human Resources Information System (HRIS), ensuring data accuracy and system integrity.
- Manage employee records, workflows, reporting, onboarding, benefits administration, and other HR processes within isolved.
- Generate and analyze reports from isolved to support workforce planning, compliance, benefits administration, and leadership decision-making.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency through enhanced utilization of isolved features and functionality.
- Support system updates, testing, implementation of new modules, and employee training related to HR technology initiatives.
Annual HR Processes & Reporting
- Coordinate and track annual HR processes including:
- Open Enrollment
- Performance Reviews
- Employee Handbook Acknowledgments
- Compliance Training
- Benefits Audits
- Employee Data Reviews
- Policy Updates
- Generate recurring and ad hoc reports related to workforce metrics, turnover, leave administration, benefits, compliance, and employee demographics.
- Analyze HR data and provide recommendations to leadership regarding trends and process improvements.
Training & Development
- Coordinate employee training programs and maintain training records.
- Track required certifications, licenses, and compliance-related training.
- Support organizational development and employee engagement initiatives.
REQUIREMENTS
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
- Minimum of 3–5 years of progressive Human Resources experience.
- Experience administering employee leave programs, unemployment claims, benefits, and HR compliance.
- Experience working with Professional Employer Organizations (PEOs) preferred.
- Experience utilizing the isolved HRIS platform strongly preferred.
- Experience with onboarding, offboarding, employee relations, and HR operations.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Thorough knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
- Strong understanding of leave administration, benefits administration, and HR compliance.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills.
- Strong organizational and time management abilities with attention to detail.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
