Cardiac Sonographer

Job Description Park Nicollet is looking for a Cardiac Sonographer to join the team. Help us make an impact on the care and experience that patients and their families receive every day. Perform echocardiographic procedures on adult patients in the Cardiology Noninvasive Laboratory, including M‑Mode, 2‑Dimensional, contrast, pulsed/continuous and color flow Doppler, stress, dobutamine, and transesophageal echocardiography. Support and participate in achieving departmental goals. Schedule Monday–Friday, 6:30‑4:30 (8‑hour shifts) with on‑call and weekend rotations. Required Qualifications Education, Experience or Equivalent Combination: Graduation from an allied health diagnostic program or received on‑the‑job training specific to echocardiography. Licensure/Registration/Certification: Registration as RDCS or RCS within 1 year of hire (or at hire if trained). BLS required within three months of hire. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of electrocardiography, arrhythmias, and conduction disturbances. Knowledge of sterile technique, mathematical principles, use of defibrillator and crash cart, and CPR. Ability to work with critically ill/injured adult patients, gain cooperation from patients, handle emergencies, report equipment problems, perform clerical activities. Knowledge of Cardiology Noninvasive Laboratory procedures, computerized echocardiography, and various echocardiogram techniques (instrumentation, artifact recognition, setup errors, transducer selection, contrast agents and provocative maneuvers). Knowledge of valve disease, pericardial disease, cardiomyopathies, ischemic heart disease, tumors, and congenital heart disease. Ability to perform deductive echocardiography, use a segmental approach, qualitatively evaluate cardiac valves, chambers, and wall segments, recognize and assess abnormalities, acquire, analyze, calculate, and measure essential diagnostic data, identify prosthetic valves and assess dysfunction, independently perform high‑quality stress and dobutamine echocardiograms, assist with transesophageal echocardiograms at bedside or in the operating room, recognize acute processes and alert physicians immediately. Maintain high expertise through continuing education to stay abreast of changes and advancements in cardiac sonography and maintain current registration status.
