SUPERVISORY POLICE OFFICER

Summary You will serve as a SUPERVISORY POLICE OFFICER (WATCH COMMANDER) in the Provost Marshal Office/Marine Corps Police Department of MARINE CORPS AIR STATION YUMA. Responsibilities You will plan and direct watch activities. You will prepare morning reports and watch schedules for the following day. You will monitor activities in the field and provide technical guidance/assistance/instruction to police officers, as required. You will review incident reports for accuracy, annotate discrepancies and/or areas of concern, and return to the police officer for correction and/or clarification. You will inspect the overall physical security of areas, evaluates situations and conditions, identifies deficiencies, and recommends or takes appropriate corrective action. Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Monitoring law enforcement operations in areas such as prevention, detection, and/or reporting of crimes; Arresting or apprehending violators; Responding to emergency situations and developing plans for law enforcement operations to safeguard the public; mitigate criminal activity by performing criminal investigative duties. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101. Overtime may be required. Required to wear a uniform and maintain appearance and grooming standards per Marine Corps orders/policies. Must successfully complete the designated USMC Basic Police Officers Course (BPOC) and meet all certification requirements, to include weapons certifications, CPR, AED, DoD and Joint Training Regulations. This position requires rotating shift work. Incumbent is subject to 24-hour recall and will maintain a 24-hour recall notification number and is required to respond per installation policy/SOP. May be subject to being interrupted for meal or other work breaks while on duty. Must pass the Police Applicant Suitability Review (PASR) investigation. Must be able to use all police equipment, certify in the use of radar detection and alcohol detection equipment, field sobriety tests, expandable or collapsible baton and obtain other certifications required to accomplish law enforcement duties. You may be required to respond to off base circumstances as directed by the installation and pass periodic re-tests as required. As first responders to chemical/biological attacks must be able to train and wear personal protective equipment to include a mask, suit, boots and gloves. If incumbent is conducting law enforcement operations in navigable waters, incumbent must attend the Inland Boat Operating Training Program at FLETC or a similar course. Incumbent must carry a firearm. Education Additional Information This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program. This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
