In this highly visible role, you will partner closely with senior leadership, Human Resources, and other enterprise functions to provide strategic legal counsel, mitigate risk, and support the organization’s mission through proactive, solutions-oriented guidance. This role offers the opportunity to influence enterprise-wide initiatives, shape policy, and drive compliance across a dynamic and growing healthcare system.As a successful candidate, you will:Advise on a wide range of labor and employment matters across federal, state, and local laws, including EEO, wage and hour, leave of absence, discrimination, harassment, and union-related issuesServe as a strategic legal partner to senior leadership, HR, and business stakeholders across the enterpriseProvide risk assessments and recommendations related to employee relations issues, complaints, and investigationsDraft, review, and negotiate employment-related agreements, including severance, compensation, and confidentiality agreementsLead and support workplace investigations and advise on appropriate actions and outcomesMonitor legislative and regulatory developments and proactively counsel leadership on business impactOversee labor relations matters, including collective bargaining agreements, grievances, arbitrations, and union negotiationsManage employment-related claims and litigation, including partnering with and directing outside counselDevelop and review employment policies, ensuring alignment with legal and regulatory requirementsQualificationsa { text-decoration: none; }tr th, tr td { }tr th { }a { text-decoration: none; }tr th, tr td { }tr th { }Your qualifications should include:J.D. from an accredited law schoolActive membership in a State Bar (California preferred or ability to practice in California)7–10+ years of progressive labor and employment law experience in a law firm, in-house, or comparable environmentDeep expertise in employment litigation, employee relations, and compliance across multiple jurisdictionsExperience advising on union/collective bargaining matters and complex labor relations issuesStrong executive presence with the ability to influence and counsel senior leadersExceptional communication, analytical, and problem-solving skillsAbility to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, high-impact environmentHealthcare or nonprofit experience strongly preferredCity of Hope employees’ pay is based on the following criteria: work experience, qualifications, and work location.City of Hope is an equal opportunity employer.To learn more about our Comprehensive Benefits, please CLICK HERE.Job Field: LegalShift: Days
