This range takes into account a variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. Salary offers are determined based on the final candidate’s qualifications and experience, as well as internal equity and other internal factors. The anticipated pay range is not a promise of a particular wage. Job Description Summary Reporting to the Library Experience Manager, the Circulation Assistant (Half-Time) helps manage and carry out Circulation functions including patron services, interlibrary loan (ILL), reserves, and stacks maintenance, primarily on evenings and weekends. The position requires a strong commitment to service and problem-solving skills. The Circulation Assistant helps to ensure consistently high service to library users by participating in training, supervising, and evaluating student employees; working with other School of Law and University departments on issues relating to library access, security, and facilities; helping maintain the Circulation module of the Integrated Library System (ILS); and assisting with developing and administering Circulation policies. Responsibilities Open or close the library; assist library users at theCirculation Desk. Supervise student employees; assist with training, scheduling, and evaluating student employees. Assist in developing and enforcing Circulation policies and procedures. Understand and enforce safety protocols in accordance with established University and library procedures Use and assist in the administration of the circulation moduleof the ILS . Assist patrons with creating study room reservations and research appointments. Communicate with Law Library, School of Law, and University departments regarding library access, security, facilities, and student employment. Assist in maintaining the collection. Assist with filing loose-leaf updates. Clean and disinfect high-touch areas. Services for Law Students & Faculty Respond to faculty requests, including locating and deliveringlibrary material and maintaining faculty course reserves and sampleexams; communicate regarding the status of requests. Fill ILL requests, both borrowing and lending; keep ILLstatistics; communicate with patrons and other libraries regardingthe status of ILL requests. Assist patrons with locating resources using the catalog. Assist patrons with library equipment including printers,scanner, and other resources. Create and update signage for display at the Circulation Desk,main entrance, and on the TV monitor. Collaborate with other library staff to maintain an environmentconducive to study and research for our primary patrons. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent. Strong service orientation and problem-solving skills. Demonstrated supervisory and management experience andskills. Ability to exercise independent judgment to conceptualize,communicate, and coordinate complex activities and projects. Strong interpersonal skills to work with diverse groups at allorganizational levels, both inside and outside the University. Commitment to expanding, improving, and promoting libraryservices. Demonstrated writing skills to produce clear, concise, accurate documentation. Ability to independently prioritize tasks when faced with interruptions and fluctuating workload. Ability to use tact, diplomacy, and maintain a high level of confidentiality. Desired Qualifications Experience in a library public services department (preferably academic). Experience with an ILS (preferably Sierra or FOLIO). Knowledge of library circulation policies and procedures. Experience with interlibrary loan/ resource sharing and document delivery services. Experience with OCLC. Experience with Springshare, Canva, Microsoft 365, and Atlassian software.
