Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Site Design Engineer with a strong background in power generation, energy systems, data centers, industrial facilities, or other complex infrastructure projects.
The engineer will be responsible for developing and optimizing equipment and site layouts for power-generation installations, coordinating with customers, EPC contractors, construction teams, and engineering consultants.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with mechanical or electrical equipment layouts, site design, CAD drawings, construction coordination, equipment installation, utilities, and infrastructure integration.
Experience with fuel cells is highly preferred, but candidates with strong experience in generators, CHP/cogeneration, microgrids, distributed generation, critical power, data centers, or industrial power systems will also be considered.
Key Responsibilities
Develop site layouts and equipment arrangements for power-generation and energy-system installations.
Design equipment placement considering:
Maintenance access
Safety clearances
Electrical distribution
Mechanical/MEP interfaces
Exhaust and ventilation
Cooling systems
Utility connections
Crane/access requirements
Future expansion
Prepare and maintain AutoCAD/Revit/CAD drawings, site layouts, equipment arrangements, and construction documentation.
Work with EPC contractors, civil/mechanical/electrical engineering firms, construction teams, and internal engineering teams.
Participate in customer site surveys and field assessments to evaluate existing infrastructure, utilities, equipment locations, foundations, and site constraints.
Support equipment installation, construction, commissioning, and field troubleshooting.
Review existing designs and identify opportunities to reduce:
Installation costs
Construction time
Material requirements
Onsite labor
Support modular and prefabricated construction where appropriate.
Coordinate mechanical, electrical, structural, and site infrastructure requirements.
Develop layouts for equipment such as:
Generators
Fuel-cell systems
CHP/cogeneration equipment
Microgrid equipment
Energy-storage systems
Critical-power equipment
Support integration of:
Electrical power
Cooling systems
Water/DI water
Gas/fuel supply
Exhaust
Ventilation
Drainage
Utility connections
Ensure designs comply with applicable NFPA, OSHA, IEC, building codes, zoning, permitting, and safety requirements.
Coordinate multiple stakeholders and maintain project schedules and design deliverables.
Travel approximately 30 40% to customer and project sites.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
6+ years of professional engineering experience involving at least one of the following:
Power generation
Energy systems
Generators
CHP/cogeneration
Microgrids
Fuel cells
Data centers / critical power
Industrial facilities
MEP infrastructure
Complex equipment installations
Similar infrastructure projects
Demonstrated experience developing equipment layouts, site layouts, construction drawings, or installation drawings.
Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, SolidWorks, or similar CAD/design software.
Experience coordinating with EPC contractors, construction companies, engineering consultants, or field installation teams.
Strong understanding of mechanical/electrical equipment integration and construction practices.
Experience with site surveys, equipment placement, utilities, foundations, installation access, and field conditions.
Strong understanding of applicable construction and safety standards.
Strong communication skills with the ability to work directly with customers, contractors, and engineering teams.
Ability to work in both office and field environments.
Willingness to travel 30 40%.
