Staff Accountant

A Wiss Real Estate client is seeking a Staff Property Accountant to join their growing team in Middlesex County, NJ. This position will support the accounting and financial reporting functions for a portfolio of residential properties working closely with property managers, operations teams, and finance leadership. This position is fully onsite, and salary range is $75,000-$85,000 Key Responsibilities Assist with the preparation and maintenance of annual budgets for a portfolio of residential properties. Prepare monthly financial statements and supporting schedules for assigned properties. Perform monthly and year-to-date variance analysis, identifying and explaining significant budget-to-actual differences. Support the preparation of consolidated financial reports for multi-phase and portfolio-level properties. Assist in producing monthly reporting packages for property management and finance leadership. Prepare lender-requested financial reporting, including profit and loss statements, T-12 reports, rent rolls, and supporting documentation. Record journal entries, accruals, reclassifications, and other month-end adjustments. Process and reconcile monthly credit card and P-card transactions. Record recurring revenue and expense allocations across properties and portfolios. Maintain financial records and ensure proper documentation is archived and organized. Assist with gathering documentation for audits, tax appeals, and township reimbursement submissions. Download, review, and distribute monthly property management system reports. Collaborate with property managers to explain financial results and address questions regarding budgets and variances. Assist with ad hoc financial analysis and special projects as needed. Support month-end and year-end closing processes. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field. 1+ years of real estate accounting, property accounting, or related accounting experience. Understanding of basic accounting principles, financial statements, and reconciliations. Experience with property management software such as RealPage, Yardi, MRI, or similar systems preferred. Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including working with spreadsheets and financial data. Eagerness to learn and grow within a real estate accounting environment. #J-18808-Ljbffr
