Senior Audit Manager - Non-Profit and Employee Benefit Plans

A well-established public accounting practice in Baltimore, MD is hiring a Senior Audit Manager to lead its Non-Profit and Employee Benefit Plan (EBP) audit practice.

What you will do

• Lead end-to-end audit engagements - pre-planning, risk assessment, fieldwork, and final reporting - for Non-Profit entities and EBPs (401(k), 403(b), and union plans)
• Ensure strict compliance with ERISA, GAAP, and applicable regulatory standards on every engagement
• Supervise, coach, and conduct performance reviews for audit staff at all levels, building a high-performing team culture
• Present audit findings, risk assessments, and strategic recommendations directly to executive leadership and audit committees
• Design and execute testing methodologies to evaluate internal control adequacy and identify operational or financial risk
• Serve as the primary client relationship owner for a portfolio of Non-Profit and EBP clients, supporting retention and growth
• Collaborate with firm leadership on practice development, methodology updates, and technical training initiatives

What you need

• Active CPA license (required)
• 10+ years of progressive external audit experience in public accounting
• Demonstrated expertise conducting Non-Profit and Employee Benefit Plan audits
• 3-5 years leading or supervising audit teams
• Expert working knowledge of GAAP, ERISA, and internal control frameworks

Nice to have

• Experience with audit management software such as CaseWare or ProSystem fx
• Familiarity with data analytics tools applied to audit procedures
• Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• Experience presenting to boards of directors or audit committees

Pay and benefits

• Base salary: $145,000 - $185,000 per year, commensurate with experience

Location and schedule
Baltimore, MD - Hybrid
2-3 days on-site per week; standard business hours, Monday-Friday. Full-Time.
