POSITION SUMMARY:

Builds pre-hung door units. Performs any other tasks delegated by the Door Plant Manager.

KEY FUNCTIONS:

1. Works in manufacturing using plant equipment, according to established procedures.

2. Assembles wood door units from machined components as specified on the door work orders.

3. Machines the various components required for the production of doors, using the required equipment.

4. Inspects all materials produced for accuracy and quality.

5. Maintains shop logs by recording changes or shortages on the production work orders. Records overage and shortages of both raw and in-process components.

6. Maintains workplace in a safe, clean, and orderly manner. Performs preventative maintenance and limited repairs on assigned machines.

7. Stocks wood door department as needed and communicates requirements to Supervisor.

8. Assists in loading materials for customers and drivers as needed.

9. Assists in the construction of miscellaneous production items as needed.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND ABILITIES:

• High school diploma, its equivalent, or successful completion of basic education requirements with job-­related experience.

• Abi1ity to verbally communicate information to other employees and customers efficiently and diplomatically.

• Ability to create legible, accurately written communication to employees, customers, vendors and others.

• Ability to understand and follow written or verbal instructions from supervisory personnel.

• Mechanica1 and technical aptitude.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Ability to walk, sit, or stand for long periods of time (up to 8 hours) daily.

• Repetitive use of wrist, hands, and fingers. Eye and hand coordination relating to fingering, indexing, inserting, and grasping activities.

• Ability to reach overhead, carry, push, pull, lift, and hold items from 10-100 pounds regularly. Work involves climbing, crouching, opening, reaching, and removing maneuvers.

• Ability to exert 20 pounds of pressure frequently and 50 pounds of pressure occasionally.

POSITION EVALUATION FACTORS:

1. Responsibility--Minimal impact on sales, costs, or assets. Work is done under immediate supervision, with advice and assistance readily available. Matters needing attention are usually controlled by established procedure.

2. Skills--Knowledge of basic procedures and operations. Skill and judgment to apply procedures or to operate equipment. Basic to moderate use of written and oral communication required.

3. Physica1/Mental Exertion--Work requires regular physical and mental effort. Conditions frequently induce fatigue. Attention to detail required.

4. Environmental Exposure--Somewhat disagreeable working conditions due to exposure to dust, dirt, temperature extremes, and mechanical equipment hazards. Frequent exposure to moderate noise levels. Use of protective devices, including clothing and safety glasses.

5. Contacts--Frequent contact with customers and employees. requiring application of established procedures.
