Overview: Join a dedicated surgical team as an Accredited Surgical Technologist (AST) providing essential support in the operating room. This role involves assisting with patient care, maintaining sterile environments, and ensuring surgical procedures run smoothly under the guidance of Registered Nurses.

Key Responsibilities:

• Adhere strictly to aseptic techniques during scrub and support duties within the surgical suite.
• Perform scrub duties in various service areas, assisting with gowning, gloving, and preparation of the operating room for procedures.
• Assist with patient skin preparation and draping, ensuring sterile technique principles are followed.
• Handle specimens according to established protocols and participate in the final verification process to confirm correct patient, procedure, and site.
• Clean and disinfect instruments and equipment post-procedure, ensuring proper storage and readiness for future use.
• Participate in sponge, instrument, and needle counts alongside circulating nurses.
• Operate sterilizers, high-level disinfectors, and instrument washers competently.
• Support supply management by stocking, replenishing, and preparing necessary materials and specialty carts.
• Transport and escort patients within the facility as needed.
• Maintain confidentiality of patient information and foster positive relations with patients, families, and team members.
• Adjust patient care practices to accommodate age-specific physiological and psychosocial needs.
• Engage in educational and performance improvement activities to maintain certification and enhance skills.
• Demonstrate proper body mechanics and participate actively in cost containment and accurate documentation.

Education: Completion of a Surgical Technologist program accredited by CAHEA or equivalent training is required.

Experience: Preferably at least one year of experience as a surgical technologist, though relevant experience may substitute formal education.

Certifications: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association is mandatory.
