The surgical technologist plays a vital role as the scrub technologist within the operating room, ensuring smooth and safe surgical procedures. This role may include additional responsibilities as assigned to support the surgical team.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Preferred minimum of one year experience as a surgical technologist.
• Proficient in handling complex monitoring and life-saving equipment.
• Ability to perform duties in assigned surgical areas with precision.
• Effective communication skills in English, both written and spoken.
• Adherence to Standard Precautions to maintain a safe environment.
• Exposure to blood or other potentially infectious materials through skin, eye, mucous membrane, or parenteral contact is part of the role.
• Understanding of age-specific physiological, psychosocial, developmental, and spiritual needs of patients served.
• Self-motivated with a commitment to continuous learning and achievement of clinical objectives.
• Capable of enduring long hours and variable shifts.
• Physical demands include extensive standing, walking, bending, lifting, transferring anesthetized patients, and pushing heavy equipment.
• Requires manual dexterity, excellent eye-hand coordination, and strong visual and auditory acuity.

Required Licenses and Certifications

• BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
