Job Title: Registered Nurse - Cardiothoracic ICU

Department : Cardiac - Cardiothoracic ICU

Location: Rochester General Hospital

Hours Per Week: Full-Time (36 hours per week)

Schedule: NIGHTS, Every Other Weekend, Every Other Holiday

Must have 1-2 years of direct cardiac nursing experience in a cardiac unit or cardiac-focused setting OR ICU experience. Candidates without prior hands-on cardiac experience OR ICU experience will not be considered for this position.

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit (CTICU) . The ideal candidate will provide high-quality, evidence-based care to critically ill cardiac patients, working closely with multidisciplinary teams to manage complex cardiovascular conditions in a high-acuity environment. Nurses on this unit are an integral part of a collaborative team delivering expert care to some of the hospital's most vulnerable populations.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Patient Care & Service. Promote and restore patients' health by completing the nursing process; collaborating with physicians and multidisciplinary team members; performing various treatment procedures; providing physical, educational and emotional support to patients, friends and families; supervising assigned team members

· Planning & Communication. Develop and document individualized care plans customized for each patient’s unique needs, with support from the interdisciplinary health team as needed; maintain effective communication to convey patient health status, treatment plans and progress

· Electronic Health Record (EHR) Management. Demonstrate proficient use of an EHR – including accurate patient and provider documentation and communication

· Compliance. Adhere to required department and system protocols, regulations (local, state, federal) and education requirements

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

· Diploma or Associates Degree in Nursing required

· RN License in New York State

· Basic Life Support Certification (BLS)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

· Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred

· At least 6 months RN experience preferred.

LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS: 

BLS - Basic Life Support - American Heart Association (AHA), RN - Registered Nurse - NYS Office of Professions

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Moderate - Clinical - Moderate clinical roles are patient facing roles that require continual movement, including standing, walking, and lifting 20–50 lbs., along with pushing and pulling medical equipment and assisting with patient positioning. Employees perform frequent bending, twisting, and reaching while completing fine motor tasks in busy or confined clinical environments. High sensory acuity is essential for monitoring patient status and responding to alarms or safety concerns. Emotional and cognitive demands are substantial, involving decision-making under pressure, responding to emergencies, and maintaining sustained focus. Environmental exposures include infectious agents, bodily fluids, chemicals, and radiation. TB testing, mask-fit testing, and physical exams are common requirements.

The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for a successful full time applicant.
