Position: Full‑Time Lecturer – Mechanical Engineering Department, San Luis Obispo Campus The Mechanical Engineering Department in the College of Engineering at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, is seeking to fill full‑time lecturer positions for the 2026‑2027 academic year, with the possibility of a one‑year extension for 2027‑2028 contingent on departmental need and satisfactory evaluations. Primary duties include teaching fundamental Mechanical Engineering courses such as design communication, engineering mechanics, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, or mechanical design. Candidates with industry experience are encouraged to apply. Responsibilities Teach fundamental Mechanical Engineering courses (design communication, engineering mechanics, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, mechanical design). Education and Salary Initial rank and salary for lecturer faculty are based on professional experience and educational background and are determined by the hiring department. Most new lecturers are hired at the Lecturer A or B rank. About the Department The Cal Poly Mechanical Engineering program is nationally recognized for its focus on undergraduate education through a laboratory‑intensive, hands‑on curriculum. The department serves over 1,300 BSME undergraduates and 50 MSME students across five concentrations: Energy Resources, HVAC&R, Manufacturing, Mechatronics, and a General Concentration. The undergraduate program culminates with a full‑year industry‑sponsored senior project experience.
