IT Project Manager - Mid-Level (Contract)
Location: Waltham - 4+ days onsite
Duration - 6 Months +
Compensation $45-$60/hr

Position Summary
Our client is seeking an experienced IT Project Manager (Contract) to lead and coordinate technology initiatives across infrastructure, cloud, cybersecurity, identity and access management, endpoint management, and enterprise applications.
This individual will work closely with IT leadership, technical teams, business stakeholders, vendors, and consultants to ensure projects are properly scoped, planned, executed, and delivered.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on project manager who is comfortable working in a technical IT environment, managing multiple initiatives simultaneously, and driving projects forward without requiring significant oversight.
Primary Responsibilities
Project Management & Delivery

• Manage IT projects from initiation through implementation and completion.
• Develop and maintain project plans, timelines, milestones, dependencies, and deliverables.
• Coordinate activities across infrastructure, security, cloud, application, and business teams.
• Facilitate project meetings and maintain clear action items, owners, and deadlines.
• Identify and manage project risks, issues, dependencies, and resource constraints.
• Track project status and provide regular updates to IT leadership and key stakeholders.
• Ensure projects remain aligned with scope, schedule, budget, and business objectives.
• Drive accountability across internal teams, vendors, and project stakeholders.

IT & Infrastructure Projects
Support and manage projects involving areas such as:

• Microsoft 365
• Microsoft Entra ID / Active Directory
• Microsoft Intune and endpoint management
• Windows Server and infrastructure upgrades
• Cloud and AWS initiatives
• Network and security upgrades
• Cybersecurity and vulnerability remediation
• Identity and access management
• Backup and disaster recovery
• ITSM and ServiceNow
• Application and system implementations
• Infrastructure migrations and modernization initiatives

Vendor & Stakeholder Management

• Coordinate with technology vendors, managed service providers, consultants, and internal teams.
• Manage vendor deliverables, timelines, dependencies, and follow-up activities.
• Partner with technical teams to translate technical requirements into actionable project plans.
• Communicate project status, risks, and decisions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Escalate issues when appropriate and drive them through resolution.

Process, Documentation & Governance

• Maintain project documentation, meeting notes, status reports, RAID logs, and project schedules.
• Assist with change management and implementation planning.
• Support compliance, audit, and security-related initiatives.
• Help improve IT project management processes, templates, documentation, and reporting.
• Ensure appropriate documentation and handoff to operational teams at project completion.

Required Qualifications

• 3-6 years of IT project management experience.
• Experience managing infrastructure, systems, cloud, cybersecurity, or enterprise technology projects.
• Strong understanding of IT infrastructure concepts and terminology.
• Experience managing multiple projects or workstreams simultaneously.
• Strong project planning, organization, and follow-through.
• Experience coordinating technical resources, vendors, and business stakeholders.
• Ability to identify risks, dependencies, and roadblocks and drive issues toward resolution.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience with project management and ITSM tools.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Microsoft 365, Azure/Entra ID, Intune, AWS, ServiceNow, or similar enterprise technologies.
• Experience managing cybersecurity, infrastructure modernization, cloud migration, or systems implementation projects.
• Experience working in a regulated environment.
• Experience in biotechnology, life sciences, healthcare, financial services, or another highly regulated industry.
• PMP, CAPM, Scrum, or other project management certification is a plus but not required .

Engagement

• Contract position.
• Primarily onsite/hybrid depending on project requirements.
