Production Control Coordinator

Production Expeditor

The Production Expeditor ensures that production jobs move efficiently through the shop floor by coordinating between departments, resolving constraints, and accelerating work-in-process so that delivery commitments are consistently met.

Responsibilities

• Move parts through the shop floor according to job operations as they are completed, ensuring smooth flow between work centers.
• Promptly record completed operations in the ERP system and verify that each step is properly stamped off in the traveler.
• Actively expedite jobs that are delayed due to material shortages, labor constraints, tooling issues, or quality concerns.
• Coordinate production priorities with supervisors and planners to align daily activities with overall production schedules.
• Communicate clear and timely job status updates to the Production Control Planning team.
• Support and help implement recovery plans for late orders and high-priority jobs to bring them back on schedule.
• Assist with part staging to ensure materials and components are ready at the appropriate workstations when needed.
• Contribute to job sequencing and re-prioritization efforts to optimize throughput and reduce bottlenecks.
• Identify bottlenecks on the shop floor and escalate issues that impact production flow, delivery performance, or quality.
• Perform accurate data entry related to ERP routers, travelers, and production status updates.
• Collaborate closely with operators and supervisors to resolve day-to-day production challenges and maintain workflow.
• Support expediting of materials and components required to keep jobs moving according to plan.

Essential Skills

• Minimum 2 years of experience in a manufacturing or production environment.
• Solid understanding of routings, travelers, and shop floor operations.
• Hands-on ERP experience, with Epicor strongly preferred.
• Strong coordination skills to manage multiple jobs and priorities simultaneously.
• Effective problem-solving abilities to address material, labor, tooling, and quality-related constraints.
• Ability to work directly and collaboratively with operators and supervisors on the shop floor.
• Capability to stand and walk for up to 8 hours per shift.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds as needed.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience working with ERP routers and travelers in a production environment.
• Comfort with data entry and updating production information in ERP systems.
• Familiarity with expediting materials and work-in-process to meet delivery timelines.
• Ability to communicate clearly across departments, including production, planning, and quality.
• Organized and detail-oriented approach to managing multiple jobs and documentation.

Work Environment

This role is based on the first shift, Monday through Friday, from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., in a production shop floor environment. The workplace includes three buildings: a main building with office space, showroom, and production floor; a second building with additional production, testing, and quality areas; and a third building that serves as an expanding warehouse. The position routinely uses computers for email and Teams, phones, production boards, forklifts, pallet jacks, and other typical shop floor equipment. The environment emphasizes a family feel, collaboration, and wellness, supported by on-site amenities such as a small gym.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Huntington Beach, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr.
