Desired Experience & Qualifications:
- Valid Special Education Teacher certification for New York State
- Prior experience teaching high school students in a special education setting
- Strong understanding of IEP development and implementation
- Ability to differentiate instruction and adapt curriculum to meet individual student needs
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with students, families, and staff
- Passionate about fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging instruction to students with varying needs in a high school classroom
- Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Collaborate with general education teachers, therapists, and support staff to create a team-oriented approach
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date student records, including progress notes and assessments
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress and strategies for success
- Support students in gaining academic, social, and behavioral skills necessary for high school achievement
