Position Title: Payroll Clerk
Location: Pittsburgh PA 15207
Duration : 3 months
Work Schedule: Monday – Friday 7am – 3pm
Pay rate : $20.00/hr.
Summary:
The Payroll Clerk is responsible for receiving time and attendance information, computing and preparing payroll and leave records, maintaining payroll documentation, processing payroll-related changes, and ensuring employees are compensated accurately in compliance with federal, state, local regulations, and organizational policies. The role also supports payroll audits, employee benefits administration, and payroll record maintenance under the direction of the Payroll Manager.
Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:
- Review timecards for completeness and accuracy and resolve discrepancies with supervisors.
- Verify overtime calculations and ensure compliance with labor agreements and applicable regulations.
- Validate payroll check amounts and payroll data accuracy.
- Process payroll changes, including direct deposit requests, retirements, and terminations.
- Distribute paychecks, W-2 forms, and tax-related documents.
- Review and process uniform allowances, weekend pay adjustments, and workers' compensation-related payroll adjustments.
- Assist employees with benefit enrollment and employment-related forms.
- Support payroll audits, reporting, and payroll data verification activities.
- Provide employment and wage verification information to authorized agencies and institutions.
- Maintain payroll records and perform other payroll-related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:- High school diploma or GED with at least 2 years of payroll experience; OR a business school qualification with a major in Business, Bookkeeping, or Accounting.
- Knowledge of payroll processing, overtime calculations, leave management, and payroll-related labor agreements.
- Understanding of federal and state payroll laws and regulations.
- Proficiency with computers and standard office equipment.
- Strong numerical, arithmetic, and record-keeping skills.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and work effectively with employees, management, and external stakeholders.
Qualifications:
