Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Med-Surg/Telemetry Duration: 16 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years of acute care RN experience required License: Valid RN license required Certifications: BLS required Must-Have: Previous charge experience preferred Epic experience required Description: Palliative care focuses on providing relief from the side effects of serious illness. This unit provides symptom management for patients undergoing treatment with uncontrolled pain, severe nausea/vomiting, failure to thrive, fatigue, and more. The ideal candidate is a med-surg nurse looking to enhance palliative care skills while also working in high acuity med-surg units through floating. This is a 12-bed medical-surgical unit dedicated to providing specialized care for patients with serious, life-limiting illnesses. The focus is on delivering high-quality, patient-centered care with an emphasis on comfort, dignity, and symptom management. The primary goal of the unit is to support patients experiencing advanced illness or imminent end of life by managing pain and other distressing symptoms. Emotional and psychosocial needs will also be addressed. RN must have experience with pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic pain interventions and equianalgesic dosing of opioids. Candidates must have current and recent acute care experience in the specialty they are applying for.
