Senior Real Estate Accountant

The Senior Real Estate Accountant reports directly to the Controller and is responsible for the timely and accurate preparation of financial reporting for Greenlight’s ownership portfolio.

The ideal candidate has a bachelor’s degree in Accounting, at least five years of accounting experience, preferably in real estate or property management accounting, strong Excel skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting tight deadlines. Working knowledge of QuickBooks is preferred.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Perform full-cycle accounting for an ownership portfolio of 14 apartment communities, including:
  • Review and consolidation of third-party property management financial statements
  • Reconciliation of balance sheet accounts, including bank, loan, accounts payable, and accounts receivable reconciliations
• Maintain depreciation and amortization schedules
• Prepare financial statements
• Complete lender reporting packages
• Prepare and complete weekly check runs
• Complete annual 1099 reporting
• Assist with annual tax preparation
• Maintain accurate financial records and meet established reporting deadlines
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and assist with implementation
  

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required
• Minimum of five years of accounting experience, with real estate or property management accounting experience preferred
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and proficiency with Microsoft Office
• Working knowledge of QuickBooks preferred
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple projects and deadlines
• High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to clearly present financial information to management
