Responsibilities
- Provide direct bedside nursing care in the ICU for critically ill patients following physician orders and unit protocols
- Continuously monitor patient status, interpret trends, and respond promptly to physiologic changes
- Manage ICU equipment and lines (eg, ventilator support, arterial/central lines) with appropriate safety precautions
- Administer prescribed medications and therapies; document care in the electronic health record
- Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, and other members of the care team; participate in rounds and support care planning
- Ensure patient safety, infection control, and adherence to standard precautions; participate in handoffs and post-visit communication
