Job Description

AECOM is actively seeking an experienced Senior Right of Way Agent to support and lead right-of-way services for transportation infrastructure projects throughout North Carolina and the Southeast. This position will serve as a senior technical and client-facing leader responsible for managing acquisition and relocation programs, building client relationships, and supporting business development efforts.

The successful candidate will lead project-level right-of-way efforts while partnering closely with transportation project managers, DOT clients, and multidisciplinary project teams. This role is expected to develop into an AECOM-certified Project Manager and ultimately serve as a key leader within AECOM's growing right-of-way practice.

This role can be worked on a hybrid basis from our Raleigh office.

Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Project Leadership & Delivery

• Assist with right-of-way acquisition and relocation services for transportation and public infrastructure projects.
• Manage project scopes, schedules, budgets, resource needs, and deliverables.
• Direct acquisition, relocation, and right-of-way certification activities.
• Monitor project performance and ensure timely delivery of services.
• Identify and proactively resolve project risks and issues.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and client-specific requirements.

Client Leadership

• Assist in developing and maintaining strong relationships with DOTs, municipalities, transit agencies, and other public-sector clients.
• Coordinate project communications and manage client expectations.
• Represent AECOM during client meetings, public meetings, and project discussions.

Business Development & Growth

• Support proposal development, interviews, capture planning, and strategic pursuits.
• Identify opportunities to expand right-of-way services with existing and prospective clients.
• Collaborate with transportation, roadway, structures, utilities, and alternative delivery teams to position AECOM for future work.
• Participate in industry organizations and professional associations that support business growth.

Technical Leadership & Mentorship

• Serve as a senior subject matter expert for acquisition and relocation services.
• Provide technical guidance and quality review of project deliverables.
• Mentor junior right-of-way staff and support workforce development.
• Assist with recruiting, onboarding, and development of future right-of-way professionals.
• Support progression toward AECOM Project Manager certification and increased project leadership responsibilities.

Career Growth & Opportunities

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

• BA/BS and 4 Years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
• 4 years of progressive experience performing and leading both acquisition and relocation services.
• NC Real Estate License
• Valid US Driver’s License required to visit project sites, clients, and other AECOM offices. As a condition of employment, selected candidate must pass a Motor Vehicle Records review

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience managing right-of-way projects, task orders, or major project assignments.
• Demonstrated client-facing experience.
• Strong knowledge of the Uniform Act and applicable federal and state right-of-way requirements.
• Experience managing project budgets, schedules, and deliverables.
• 8+ years of right-of-way experience.
• Experience supporting NCDOT and other state transportation agencies.
• IRWA certifications, including SR/WA or other advanced credentials.
• Experience supporting Design-Build and alternative delivery projects.
• Proven business development and proposal support experience.
• Experience managing multidisciplinary project teams.
• Strong leadership, negotiation, presentation, and communication skills.
• Demonstrated readiness to pursue AECOM Project Manager certification and broader project management responsibilities.

Additional Information

• Hybrid work schedule available based on business needs.
• Travel throughout North Carolina and the Southeast region may be required.
• Valid US Driver’s License required to visit project sites, clients, and other AECOM offices. As a condition of employment, selected candidate must pass a Motor Vehicle Records review
• Relocation assistance may be considered for highly qualified candidates.
