Cost Accounting Manager

We are seeking a highly skilled professional to lead our cost accounting function. This role involves overseeing all aspects of cost accounting, including the development and maintenance of standard costs, as well as managing inventory accounting across various stages such as raw materials, work-in-progress (WIP), and finished goods. The candidate will ensure accuracy and compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the development, maintenance, and annual updates of standard costs.
• Oversee inventory accounting to ensure accuracy and GAAP compliance.
• Manage month-end close processes related to inventory, including journal entries, reconciliations, and variance analysis.
• Analyze manufacturing variances such as price, usage, labor, overhead, and yield, providing actionable insights to operations.
• Partner with plant and supply chain leadership to monitor production performance, identify inefficiencies, and drive cost improvements.
• Support budgeting and forecasting processes, including cost roll-ups and production assumptions.
• Maintain and enhance ERP costing systems, with a preference for SAP experience.
• Ensure strong internal controls over inventory and costing processes; support audits and SOX compliance.
• Drive process improvements and automation initiatives to enhance data accuracy and reporting efficiency.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 5-10 years of experience in cost accounting or manufacturing finance.
• Strong expertise in standard costing, inventory accounting, and variance analysis.
• ERP experience, with SAP preferred.
• CPA or CMA certification is a plus.
