This is an opportunity for an experienced environmental consultant who wants to manage meaningful projects, deepen client relationships, mentor staff, and play a visible role in the continued growth of LaBella’s New York City environmental practice. LaBella is a 100% employee-owned firm with more than 2,000 professionals in more than 40 offices across 14 states, with additional international offices in the U.K. and Spain. LaBella’s DUMBO, Brooklyn office offers the agility, collaboration, and visibility of a growing boutique practice, backed by the resources, stability, and technical depth of a national employee-owned firm. We are looking for an experienced environmental professional with strong technical judgment, project leadership skills, client-service instincts, and an interest in growing into — or continuing to perform in — a seller-doer role. The successful candidate will manage environmental due diligence, investigation, remediation, wetland delineation, environmental permitting, and construction-phase environmental projects, with a particular focus on NYC E-Designation projects, NYS Brownfield Cleanup Program projects, spill sites, wetland and natural resource permitting, and complex urban redevelopment assignments throughout the five boroughs and the NYC metropolitan area. The Senior Project Manager will manage key projects and client relationships, prepare and review technical and regulatory deliverables, develop proposals and scopes of work, coordinate with regulatory agencies and multidisciplinary teams, support business development and teaming efforts, and help train and mentor junior staff. This role is well suited for someone who enjoys the combination of technical work, project delivery, client interaction, staff development, and strategic growth. For the right candidate, this is a high-upside opportunity to help shape a growing NYC environmental practice within a collaborative, employee-owned company that values initiative, technical excellence, client service, and long-term professional growth. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Manage and oversee environmental due diligence, investigation, remediation, permitting, natural resource, and construction-phase environmental projects throughout the five boroughs and the NYC metropolitan area. Lead complex NYC E-Designation, NYS Brownfield Cleanup Program, spill, redevelopment, wetland, natural resource, and other regulatory-driven environmental projects from planning through implementation and closure. Manage project scope, schedule, budget, staffing, subcontractors, technical deliverables, regulatory coordination, and client expectations. Prepare, review, and manage proposals, scopes of work, work plans, investigation reports, remedial action plans, closure reports, wetland delineation reports, permit applications, regulatory submittals, and client deliverables. Serve as a primary point of contact for clients, regulatory agencies, contractors, teaming partners, and internal project teams. Provide senior technical review and strategic direction on environmental data evaluation, remedial strategy, soil management, vapor intrusion, groundwater, engineering controls, wetland/natural resource constraints, environmental permitting, and construction-phase environmental issues. Manage and/or support wetland delineations, natural resource assessments, jurisdictional determinations, alternatives analyses, mitigation concepts, and related federal, state, and local permitting efforts. Coordinate with regulatory agencies on environmental, wetland, waterbody, coastal, stormwater, and natural resource permitting matters, including agencies such as USACE, NYSDEC, NYCDEP, and other applicable local, state, and federal agencies. Identify and pursue strategic business development opportunities in the NYC regional market, including real estate, affordable housing, institutional, public agency, infrastructure, redevelopment, wetland/permitting, and natural resource opportunities. Support proposal strategy, teaming decisions, qualifications packages, interviews, and responses to RFPs and RFQs. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including environmental scientists, geologists, engineers, planners, architects, contractors, attorneys, developers, public agencies, and government regulators. Provide oversight, mentoring, technical guidance, and professional development support to project managers, junior staff, and field staff. Support recruiting, onboarding, training, and staff development efforts for the Brooklyn environmental practice. Track and communicate project milestones, staffing needs, financial performance, client opportunities, and quarterly business goals. Monitor and communicate relevant NYC regional environmental policy, regulatory, and market developments that may affect clients, projects, business development, or practice growth. Identify opportunities to expand LaBella’s environmental permitting, wetland, natural resources, and development-support services within the NYC regional market. Represent LaBella professionally in client meetings, regulatory meetings, industry events, professional organizations, and teaming discussions. Conduct and oversee work in accordance with professional standards, applicable regulations, LaBella’s QA/QC policies, and the firm’s core values.
