A growing, dentist-owned and dentist-operated dental partnership group is seeking a high-performing clinician, experienced mentor, and strategic leader to serve as its next Clinical Director.

This is a hands-on leadership opportunity for a dentist who enjoys developing associates, improving clinical performance, and building the systems needed to support continued growth. The Clinical Director will practice clinically one to two days per week and spend the remainder of the week coaching doctors, strengthening clinical workflows, creating education and development pathways, supporting recruitment and onboarding, and partnering with leadership and operations.

The organization supports multiple practices across Chicagoland and Northwest Indiana and was built as an alternative to the traditional private-equity-backed DSO model. Its approach emphasizes dentist leadership, clinical autonomy, accountability, comprehensive patient care, and long-term doctor development.

The ideal candidate is not simply looking to maintain existing systems. This person will be energized by the opportunity to build, improve, and scale a strong clinical culture.

Key Responsibilities

• Practice clinically one to two days per week
• Provide chairside coaching and mentorship to associate dentists
• Improve doctor productivity, case acceptance, clinical consistency, and patient care
• Create structured learning, development, and continuing-education pathways
• Develop and standardize clinical workflows across multiple locations
• Recruit, evaluate, onboard, mentor, and retain associate dentists
• Review clinical performance data and create individualized improvement plans
• Partner with operations and leadership to improve practice performance
• Support doctors with clinical questions by phone and text when needed
• Travel between practice locations to coach doctors and teams
• Participate in weekly leadership meetings
• Help build the clinical infrastructure needed to support future expansion

Qualifications

• DDS or DMD from an accredited dental school
• Active, unrestricted Illinois dental license
• Active DEA registration in good standing
• Indiana dental license preferred
• Current annual clinical production of at least $1 million
• Demonstrated success as a comprehensive general dentist
• Experience coaching and developing associate dentists in a DSO or multi-practice environment
• Proven ability to improve doctor productivity, case acceptance, clinical consistency, or professional development
• Strong leadership, communication, organization, and accountability skills
• Comfort using performance metrics and clinical data to guide coaching
• Willingness to work full-time, Monday through Friday
• Ability to travel throughout Chicagoland and Northwest Indiana

Experience coaching more than 20 associate dentists, building clinical education programs, or helping scale a dental organization to 20 or more locations is strongly preferred.

The ideal Clinical Director is a respected clinician who can lead through credibility, experience, and measurable results. This person knows how to challenge doctors while also making them feel supported.

They are comfortable giving direct feedback, identifying performance gaps, and creating practical plans for improvement. They understand the connection between clinical excellence, patient experience, doctor confidence, and practice performance.

Most importantly, they are a builder, not a maintainer.

Compensation

The anticipated compensation package includes:

• $200,000 annual base salary
• 35% of collections generated during one to two clinical days per week
• Annual performance incentive tied to measurable improvements in associate doctor productivity and performance
• Additional benefits offered that will be discussed
