POLICE OFFICER - LATERAL/ACADEMY GRADUATE

City of Cathedral City is seeking enthusiastic men and women for a challenging career in public safety. Applications are accepted from current and newly sworn peace officers. Position Department: Police Annual Salary: $90,963 - $120,810 Bargaining Unit: CCPOA (Cathedral City Police Officers Association) Ideal Candidate Under general supervision, performs a wide variety of peace officer duties including the protection of life and property, enforcement of laws and ordinances, criminal investigation, crime prevention and suppression, case preparation and testimony, and provision of information and assistance to the public; performs related work as assigned. Minimum Requirements Graduation from high school or equivalent. Graduation from a POST‑certified Basic Academy within the last three years. Possession of a California POST Basic Certificate (required for lateral applicants). Citizen of the United States or a permanent‑resident alien eligible for citizenship. College‑level police science or related coursework desired. Good physical fitness and mental health per POST standards. Additional Requirements Must meet California peace officer standards: not currently on probation for a misdemeanor; no prior felony convictions unless fully pardoned; good moral character determined by background investigation (including polygraph or computer voice stress analysis); submission of fingerprints for criminal record check; no physical, emotional, or mental condition that could adversely affect performance. Valid California driver’s license. Willingness and ability to work day, night, weekend, and holiday shifts; available for call‑out as required. Ability to obtain and maintain POST certification and firearms qualification. Twenty‑one years of age by appointment.
