Senior Mechanical/Design Engineer

And if it can be measured, it can also be realized.The Senior Design Mechanical Engineer is a key contributor responsible for design and analysis of mechanical systems, equipment and packaging for FARO's metrology products.This position is considered a hybrid position out of our Exton, PA office or our Lake Mary, Florida office. Hybrid is 2x-3x weekly in office.How you will make a difference @ FARO:Key individual contributor able to work autonomously to support the design of new metrology instrument products.Support projects from concept to productions in close coordination with related departments and vendorsServe as subject matter expert for product external design including industrial design, plastic molded part design and user interfacesConduct feasibility studies of designs and concepts using engineering principles and FEA softwareDevelop and coordinate with vendors to provide finished work that meets requirementsPerform hands-on assembly, testing and troubleshooting of prototypes to ensure design requirements are metAnalyze and refine high level requirementsDevelop assembly, calibration and compensation techniques.Build BOMs for manufacturing and assemblyGuide and assist operations with creation of assembly instructionsServe as a mentor to other mechanical engineers and designers in areas of expertiseThis position requires:A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Industrial EngineeringA minimum of 5 years of relevant mechanical/industrial engineering experience. Preference towards 10 years of relevant experienceMechanical design using Solidworks or similar CAD packageSurface modeling using Solidworks or similar CAD packageDesign of injection molded partsIndustrial design and evaluation of products for improved product user interaction (UI/UX)Drawing generation in accordance with ASME Y14.5M Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)Design of machined, sheet metal and cast partsSystem error budgets and tolerance stack upsFinite element analysis (FEA) using Solidworks Simulation or ANSYSWhat FARO can offer you: FARO has excellent benefits for you and your family.
