Step into a vital role supporting K-6 learners in a Montessori setting as a Special Education Teacher, providing resource room instruction for a caseload of 17 students. Situated near Detroit, MI, this contract opportunity spans the 2026-2027 school year (September 8, 2026 to June 18, 2027) and is ideal for educators dedicated to fostering growth and independence in young learners.

This position offers a full-time schedule, Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 3:30 PM (37.5 hours per week), allowing for meaningful connections with students and collaborative engagement with supportive staff. Montessori experience is a plus, as you'll be working in a progressive, student-centered learning environment tailored to individual needs.

Qualifications:

• Valid teaching certification in Special Education, with eligibility for Michigan
• Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Special Education or a related field
• Experience working as a Special Education Teacher in an elementary (K-6) setting
• Montessori classroom experience or a willingness to learn Montessori methodologies
• Strong ability to provide resource room instruction and individualized education plans (IEPs)
• Effective communication and collaboration skills with students, families, and staff

Responsibilities:

• Deliver individualized and small group instruction in a dedicated resource room setting
• Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs for a caseload of 17 students
• Collaborate with general education teachers and Montessori staff
• Support students’ academic, emotional, and social growth
• Maintain accurate records and communication with families and educational teams
• Foster a positive, inclusive, and adaptive learning environment
