Job Description

Make a meaningful impact by using your expertise as an Occupational Therapist in a dynamic educational setting near Mesquite, NM. This contract opportunity centers on delivering targeted 1:1 therapy and support within a school environment, helping students achieve greater independence and success in their academic and daily routines.

Qualifications and Desired Skills:

Active Occupational Therapist license in the state or eligibility to obtain
Previous experience in a school-based or pediatric setting preferred
Strong knowledge of individualized education plans (IEPs) and progress monitoring
Skills in developing and implementing OT interventions tailored to school-aged children
Excellent communication skills to collaborate with educators, families, and other professionals
Ability to adapt to changing needs and provide compassionate, student-centered care

Key Responsibilities:

Provide direct 1:1 occupational therapy services to students as determined by each student’s IEP
Assess, plan, and set measurable goals focusing on improving fine motor, sensory, adaptive, and functional skills
Collaborate with teachers, specialists, and caregivers to integrate OT strategies into classroom and home environments
Document session notes, evaluation results, and progress reports in a timely manner, ensuring compliance with school policies
Attend multidisciplinary meetings and participate in IEP planning and reviews
Offer guidance and training to staff on relevant OT practices and accommodations
