Make a meaningful impact by supporting students with special needs in an inclusive and positive learning environment. Multiple contract positions are available for Special Education Teachers across elementary and high school buildings, with all roles focused on Resource Room support. This is an onsite opportunity beginning August 31, 2026, and continuing through June 10, 2027.
What you’ll bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education and a valid Michigan Teaching Certificate (MDE), or a Bachelor’s degree with current enrollment in a state-approved MDE-recognized certification program
- Preferred: Prior classroom teaching experience, especially in special education or a comparable school setting
- Preferred endorsements in Learning Disabilities (SM) and/or Cognitive Impairment (SA)
- Strong knowledge of IEP implementation, instructional differentiation, and evidence-based classroom modifications
- Excellent collaboration skills to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams and families
- Dedication to fostering a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning experience for students with diverse needs
Your responsibilities:
- Deliver direct and indirect instructional support tailored to students with disabilities
- Employ specialized strategies to aid development in sensory-perceptual, cognitive, language, memory, and motor skill areas
- Provide academic instruction utilizing a variety of techniques, including phonics, multisensory learning, guided practice, and repetition
- Create, implement, and monitor progress toward IEP goals and cultivate socially appropriate behaviors using positive supports
- Adapt general education curricula to individual student requirements using evidence-based methods and assistive technology
- Develop engaging lesson plans to promote active participation and independent learning
- Collaborate closely with general education staff, related service providers, administrators, and families to ensure compliance and support student achievement
