From our Ashland, Massachusetts site, your craftsmanship becomes part of industry-leading fire detection and suppression systems.Location: 400 Main Street, Ashland, MA 01721, USASchedule: Multiple shifts available; current openings include second shift.A day in the lifeYou arrive at our Ashland shop and review the day’s builds. You study prints, load a program, square up your workholding, and dial in tools on a DMG MORI mill. With calipers and micrometers in hand, you hold tight tolerances on brass and stainless components. You move between CNC mills, lathes, and a Swiss lathe, proving out parts, checking features on an optical comparator and CMM, and documenting inventory as completed components pass quality checks. You top off coolant, adjust feeds, and keep your cell spotless—then collaborate with teammates to plan the next run.What you’ll handleSet up and operate lathes and milling machines for production and prove-outs.Read blueprints, route sheets, and technical instructions; validate first articles.Perform complete CNC operations: setup, milling, turning, and close‑tolerance work.Take precise measurements and determine optimal machine parameters.Program and operate manual, semi‑automated, and automated machines (lathes, mills, grinders).Use precision instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and compasses for exacting measurement.Stand for up to 8 hours and lift up to 30 lbs as part of normal operations.Plan job sequences for efficient, high‑quality throughput.Monitor operations; adjust feeds, speeds, and offsets to maintain spec.Track and maintain inventory of completed components.Inspect output, troubleshoot defects, and drive corrective actions.Perform routine maintenance (coolant, lubricants, hydraulic oils) to keep equipment reliable.Maintain a clean, safe workstation and follow site safety protocols.Pitch in across the team to complete related tasks as needed.What you bringStrong coordination and mechanical aptitude with exceptional attention to measurement detail.Ability to interpret complex blueprints, route sheets, and specifications.Vertical Mori & 5‑Axis Mori exposure preferred.Knowledge of metal properties: brass, stainless steel, bronze, aluminum.Clear written and verbal communication skills.Proficiency in CAD software is highly desirable.Solid math and basic computer competency.Background with machine tools or mechanical assembly.Understanding of manufacturing safety practices.High school diploma or equivalent required; vocational/technical program or apprenticeship preferred.Proficiencies that set you up for successGD&TEquipment TroubleshootingCNC ToolingCNC ProgrammingG‑CodeM‑CodeCNC Machine Setup & ChangeoverPrecision Measurement & Hand MetrologyMachine Geometry & AlignmentMachine Setups for Production RunsManual Machining SkillsTools & technologies you’ll operateCNC Mill (3–4 axis VMC) (Dmg Mori Seiki)Optical ComparatorSurface GrinderManual GrinderManual LatheCNC Lathe (2–4 axis) (Dmg Mori Seiki)CNC Swiss Lathe (Star, Hanwha)Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM)CAM Software (Esprit)CNC Mill (5+ axis VMC) (Dmg Mori Seiki, Fanuc)CNC Lathe (5+ axis) (Dmg Mori Seiki)KiddeFenwal, LLC. is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer.
