Unit Description Our Banner Boswell Ortho PCU is a combined acute care specialty unit serving both Progressive Care and Medical Surgical patients as part of our Progress in Place initiative. Our 5A/5B is a 41‑bed unit specializing in the care of postoperative orthopedic patients including pre and post‑op surgical care for a wide range of orthopedic cases ranging from total joint replacements to fractures. As an RN on our unit, you will assess, plan, implement, evaluate and document nursing care of our patients in accordance with organizational policies and standards of professional nursing practice. 5D is a 20‑bed orthopedics and GI post‑surgical unit, dedicated to the care of postoperative gastrointestinal surgeries. This inpatient unit specializes in the care of GI patients including pre and post‑op surgical care for a wide range of gastrointestinal disorders as well as general medical/surgical overflow. As an RN on our unit, you will have the opportunity to work with a highly efficient team surrounded by engaged team members working to meet positive patient outcomes with an emphasis on demonstrating our value of Customer Obsession. The team focus is on creating a healthy work environment through collaboration, hourly rounding, prompt answering of call lights, culture of clean and quiet and acknowledging a “one team” culture. This is a unique assignment‑based PRN position, meaning that you will be dedicated to only one specific unit at this facility. No floating to any other unit or facility. We have Day shift openings, 7am - 7:30pm with a 2 shift per month minimum, specific to this unit. This position offers a generous 18% night‑differential and an additional flat rate weekend differential of $3/hour when applicable. If you are interested in this Per Diem position, please apply! You must have a minimum of 18 months of RN work experience. You must have a minimum of 12 months of recent work experience on a Progressive Care Unit (within the last year and a half). BLS and ACLS is required upon hire. Orientation is a full time, week‑long commitment. You must be available to attend both virtual and in‑person training classes during your first week.

POSITION SUMMARY

This position assesses, plans, implements, evaluates and documents nursing care of patients in accordance with organizational policies and standards of professional nursing practice. The position is accountable for the quality of nursing services delivered by self or others who are under their direction, and uses specialized knowledge and judgment to provide appropriate care for the physical and developmental needs of assigned patients.

CORE FUNCTIONS

Assesses patient physical, psychological, social, spiritual, educational, developmental, cultural and discharge planning needs. Reviews history and physical, collaborates with family, and reports abnormal diagnostic results to physicians. Formulates a patient‑specific plan of care, including a realistic, measurable discharge plan, based on assessment data and medical plan of care. Implements the plan through direct patient care, coordination, delegation and supervision of the health care team, ensuring compliance with policies and regulations. Evaluates patient and family response to care and teaching, revising the plan of care as needed. Documents assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation in the patient record, ensuring timeliness and accuracy. Provides evidence‑based care, participates in research, unit/shared leadership, and mentors others when appropriate. Contributes to societal improvement in nursing outcomes, participates in quality improvement and professional organizations. In some roles, supervises staff and workflow within the department. Interacts with all staff levels, external contacts, and clergy to provide spiritual support and effective communication.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Must possess a current, valid RN license in state of practice, temporary or interim RN license, or compact RN licensure for the current state of practice. BLS certification is required. Additional certifications or continuing education may be required based on area of practice. Experience in the clinical area for which the RN is applying is desired. Must maintain clinical performance competencies through annual validations. Banner Registry and Travel acute care positions require a minimum one year of experience in an acute care hospital setting, including the past 12 months.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
