[HYBRID] Controller (accounting & management exp. req.) Description

Our client is a growing environmental services organization supporting a diverse portfolio of client programs across the country. Following the promotion of their Controller to VP of Finance, they are seeking a new Controller to join the team. In this role, you will oversee accounting operations, financial reporting, month-end close, and a team of three supervisors. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring strong technical accounting expertise, the ability to partner closely with operations, and comfort working in a fast-paced environment where processes and systems continue to evolve. The ideal candidate will bring experience in accrual-based accounting, team leadership, and managing accounting functions within a high-volume or project-based environment. [HYBRID] Controller (accounting & people management exp. req.) Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and develop members of the accounting team (3 direct reports)
• Oversee daily accounting operations and financial reporting activities
• Manage general ledger accounting and month-end close processes
• Provide oversight of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll functions
• Ensure accurate financial reporting in accordance with GAAP
• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
• Develop and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls
• Support audit readiness and compliance initiatives
• Oversee accounting related to contracts, project-based revenue, and cost allocations
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities
• Monitor program and operational financial performance
• Drive process improvements across accounting and finance functions
• Support system enhancements, automation efforts, and workflow efficiencies

[HYBRID] Controller (accounting & people management exp. req.) Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree required
• 2+ years of people leadership experience required
• 6+ years of progressive accounting experience required
• Strong knowledge of accrual accounting and financial reporting required
• Advanced Excel skills including Pivot Tables & VLOOKUPs required
