Position Details Title: Certified Instructor Coordinator Location: Yonkers, NY Department: Education FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Reports To: David Grass Hourly Wage: $40.00 an hour Summary The Empress Emergency Medical Services EMS Academy Instructor is responsible for the instructional development of Academy students, preparing them for the New York State Emergency Medical Technician (EMT‑B) State Exam. Under the direction of the Course Sponsor and Director of Clinical Education, the instructor organizes, administers, and evaluates the training curriculum in alignment with New York State guidelines and protocols. Main Duties And Responsibilities Ensure that course content follows New York State requirements, guidelines and protocols. Prepare and develop course content for general or specialized training courses, including lesson plans and teaching aids, such as training handbooks, demonstration models and multimedia visual aids, to achieve established instructional goals. Attend all course sessions. Provide lectures and conduct or co‑conduct training sessions as needed. Participate in the scheduling and coordination of classes, training sessions, supplemental courses and evaluation meetings in accordance with New York State requirements or guidelines. Test and evaluate students as necessary, in accordance with New York State requirements and guidelines, to measure learning progress and to evaluate the effectiveness of training presentations. Provide trainees with information about course policies, feedback on performance and requirements, access to remedial or tutoring help, and counseling as needed. Maintain records of trainee enrollment, attendance and performance. Submit trainee enrollment, attendance and performance records to the Course Sponsor Administrator (CSA) once courses are completed or at the request of the CSA. Act as liaison between trainees, CSA, clinical preceptors and the New York State Department of Health, Bureau of Emergency Medical Services. Perform a variety of related duties as required. Minimum Qualifications Current New York State Certification (EMT‑B) or EMT‑P and current CPR Certification. Satisfactorily complete all aspects of the pre‑employment process administered by Empress Ambulance Service, LLC, including drug screening and background check. High School Diploma or Equivalent. Minimum age 19 years. Work Environment Works indoors in a classroom setting with occasional exposure to outside hazardous conditions and blood/body fluids. Requires respirator use, exposure to fumes/odors, extended day, and temperature changes. Frequently works with others, face‑to‑face contact with exposure to noise, mechanical and electrical equipment. Physical Requirements Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. Frequently required to stand and walk. Required to sit; climb or balance; step, stoop, kneel, or crouch. Must frequently lift and/or carry a maximum of 125 pounds unassisted and up to 300 pounds as part of a two‑person crew. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. We are an equal opportunity employer.
