Press Brake Operator

Summary:

The Brake Press Operator is responsible for setting up, programming, and operating brake press equipment to form parts according to blueprint specifications and quality standards. This role requires accurate measurement, proper material handling, and strict adherence to safety, quality, and housekeeping procedures in a manufacturing environment.

1st and 2nd shift openings - Pay Rate 22$ - 27$ Hourly.
6 AM - 2 PM Monday - Friday
2PM - 10 PM Monday - Friday.

1. Read and interpret blueprint specifications for the purpose of forming production parts.

2. Set up; program and operate forming equipment.

3. Position and accurately orient workpieces in machines.

4. Use a variety of precision measuring devices to set-up and adjust work and verify conformance of work to specifications.

5. Follow all clean up and housekeeping procedures.

6. Comply with all quality and safety requirements.

Education and/or Experience
• Requires education generally equivalent to a High School Diploma
• 2 or more years' experience
• Requires basic shop math
• European, Wila, and Custom tooling knowledge desired
• Experience with a variety of materials and programming desired
• Familiarity with Safan and Accurpress desired
• Must perform metric conversions.
• Requires good oral and written communication skills to interact with coworkers.
• Must be able to read and understand blueprints, specifications, and routings.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand for extended periods and use hands to finger, handle, or feel sheet metal materials, machine controls, and tooling. The employee is occasionally

required to walk; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear while communicating with team members or performing equipment adjustments.

The position involves frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, and positioning of sheet metal parts during machine setup and operation. The employee must be able to:
• Lift and carry sheet metal parts up to 20 lbs. from floor to 43" and from 43" to 53" (repetitively).
• Lift 30 lbs. from floor to 43" and 43" to 53" for multiple repetitions.
• Lift 50 lbs. from 37" to 45" and 45" to 53" as needed during setup and operation.
• Occasionally lift 65 lbs. from 37" to 43".
• Push and pull metal sheets/parts on a 43" work surface using up to 25 lbs. of force in forward, lateral, and backward motions.
• Reach to the control panel up to 18" in front of the body and up to a height of 60".
• Maintain balance on each leg for 30 seconds.
• Stand and walk for the duration of the shift while performing machine setup, part loading, and inspection.

Specific vision abilities required in this role include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus, necessary for reading measurements, inspecting parts, monitoring machine operation, and ensuring accuracy and safety.

Work Environment
