HR Generalist

HR Generalist We are seeking a knowledgeable, proactive, and hands‑on HR Generalist to support recruiting, employee relations, payroll processing, benefits administration, onboarding, and HR operational functions. This role will work closely with leadership and employees across the organization to support day‑to‑day HR operations while ensuring payroll accuracy, compliance, and process consistency. The ideal candidate is a self‑starter who operates with urgency, takes ownership of responsibilities, and proactively identifies opportunities to improve processes and support the organization’s growth. This position requires someone who is comfortable balancing HR responsibilities with detailed payroll administration and construction‑related payroll compliance requirements. Key Responsibilities Manage recruitment and selection processes, including job postings, resume screening, interview coordination, and offer administration Coordinate onboarding and new hire orientation processes, including completion of required employment documentation Maintain employee records and ensure HR documentation remains accurate, organized, and compliant Assist employees with benefits‑related inquiries and support annual enrollment activities Support employee relations matters and assist with investigations, disciplinary meetings, and performance management processes as needed Partner with managers regarding employee relations, staffing needs, and HR best practices Support training initiatives and HR‑related organizational programs Stay informed on HR best practices, employment laws, and compliance requirements Process weekly payroll accurately and timely Maintain payroll records, deductions, garnishments, PTO balances, and employee payroll changes Assist with payroll reconciliations, payroll reporting, and payroll‑related general ledger support Support payroll analytics and labor reporting, including understanding payroll‑related P&L impacts and labor cost drivers Assist with fringe rate calculations and prevailing wage requirements as applicable Coordinate and support certified payroll reporting requirements, including Davis Bacon compliance reporting Support CCIP/OCIP payroll reporting and related documentation requirements Assist with payroll audits, insurance audits, and compliance reporting requests Maintain compliance with payroll tax and employment‑related reporting requirements Utilize HRIS and payroll systems to maintain accurate employee and payroll information Support reporting requests and maintain HR/payroll‑related analytics and operational reporting Identify opportunities to improve HR and payroll processes, organization, and efficiency Assist with implementation or transition activities related to HR or payroll systems as needed Maintain a high level of accuracy, organization, and confidentiality across all responsibilities Requirements Proven experience as an HR Generalist, HR Coordinator, Payroll Specialist, or similar role Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Accounting, or related field preferred HR certification (PHR, SHRM-CP, etc.) is a plus Experience processing payroll and supporting payroll‑related reporting and reconciliations Strong understanding of HR functions, employment practices, and payroll processes Experience with HRIS and payroll systems Strong Excel skills and comfort working with payroll data and reporting Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment Ability to work independently while maintaining strong attention to detail Experience in construction, contracting, or project‑based industries preferred Preferred Attributes Self‑starter with strong ownership mindset and accountability Comfortable operating independently with minimal oversight after onboarding Strong problem‑solving and organizational skills Ability to balance administrative execution with process improvement Team‑oriented with strong professionalism and follow‑through Experience with ADP, Paylocity, SAGE, WorkMax, or similar systems preferred #J-18808-Ljbffr SuperHero Fire Protection
