Primary area of experience : Business litigation in Texas state and federal courts

Docket and eFile in federal and state courts

• Calendar and deadline management, including calculating and calendaring court and internal deadlines, monitoring and alerting attorneys regarding same, tracking litigation tasks and ongoing case projects, and oversight of project progress and status in view of calendar and internal deadlines

• Substantive document review (not including issues primarily requiring legal knowledge or analysis)

• Working knowledge of e-discovery document review platforms such as Relativity, DISCO, and Everlaw

• Draft correspondence and legal documents such as discovery shells, subpoenas, deposition notices, affidavits, privilege logs, and document production logs in both Texas state and federal court

• Communicate with various parts of the federal and Texas state court systems and with outside legal personnel regarding case details, deadlines, and procedures

• Assist with briefs and memoranda, including creating tables of authorities and tables of contents

• Preparation of pre-trial filings in both federal and Texas State Court systems, including trial exhibit lists, trial witness lists, and deposition excerpt designations.

• Operate Trial Director - upload exhibits, upload and clip video depositions, run program during trials

• Scheduling of hearings and depositions, including direct communication and coordination with court personnel and opposing counsel

• Secure court reporters for depositions • Handle confidential and time-sensitive material

• Gather and arrange evidence and other legal documents for attorneys • Assist lawyers during trials by handling exhibits and handling courtroom setup logistics

• Call clients, witnesses, lawyers, and outside vendors regarding meetings and depositions • Track progress and assignment status of open matters

• Prepare for legal hearings, trials and client meetings

• Bates number and redact legal documents

• Create demonstrative exhibits

• Coordinate Service of Process

• In-office work 5 days per week during normal business hours, with periodic requirements for afterhours work as needed

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

• Associate or bachelor's degree

• Paralegal certification or equivalent

• 10+ years of business litigation experience

• Outstanding verbal and written communication skills

• Collaborative, self-motivated, and highly professional •

Proficient with Microsoft Office, Adobe Pro, document management and project management systems (preferably Centerbase and NetDocuments)

• Values and thrives in team-based approach

• Excels in high intensity, fast-paced environment

• Has the technical skills where new software or practice management programs and applications can be quickly learned and implemented • Understands technical legal terminology

• Highly organized with attention to detail
