Job Description and Duties

Effective July 1, 2025, in accordance with the applicable Memorandum of Understanding, the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025) was implemented in response to the status of the State budget. PLP 2025 requires each full-time employee in Bargaining Unit 4 , and related Excluded, Exempt and Statutory Exempt employees, will have their base salary reduced by 3percent and will receive 5 hours PLP 2025 leave credits monthly through June 2027. Salaries do not reflect the recent changes.

• Employees who are employed at HIGH DESERT STATE PRISON (HDSP) for 12 consecutive qualifying pay periods will receive an annual $2600 recruitment and retention bonus.

Under the direction of the Correctional Health Services Administrator (CHSA) I/II, Correctional Facility (CF) the Office Technician (OT) (Typing) independently performs a wide variety of administrative clerical support duties for the CHSA I/II and the programs under his/her supervision. The OT (Typing) performs duties that require general knowledge of Department regulations and policies and an understanding of department-wide office practices and procedures. The OT (Typing) must possess the ability to communicate effectively and exercise good judgment.

Minimum Qualifications

Either I:  One year of experience in California state service performing clerical duties at a level of responsibility equivalent to that of an Office Assistant, Range B.

Or II:  Experience: Two years of experience in typing and clerical work. [Academic education above the twelfth grade may be substituted for one year of the required general experience on the basis of either (a) one year of general education being equivalent to three months of experience; or (b) one year of education of a business or commercial nature being equivalent to six months of experience. Students who are enrolled in the last semester or its equivalent of course work, which upon completion will fulfill these requirements, will be admitted to the examination, but they must submit evidence of completion before they can be considered for appointment.]
