What You’ll Do The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for a broad range of human resources functions that support the agency, serving as a key resource for staff and leadership while ensuring the effective administration of recruitment, benefits, leave management, employee relations, compliance, and human resources programs. Key responsibilities include: Lead recruitment efforts, including posting positions, screening candidates, coordinating interviews, conducting background checks, and facilitating onboarding activities. Maintain and update job descriptions and support hiring managers throughout the recruitment process. Administer employee benefits programs, including enrollments, changes, provider communications, disability claims, COBRA administration, workers' compensation reporting, and unemployment claims. Serve as the primary point of contact for employee benefits inquiries and education. Track and administer employee leave programs, including FMLA, PFML, and other approved leaves of absence. Support performance management processes and assist leadership in maintaining an effective evaluation program. Collaborate with leadership on compensation administration, pay equity initiatives, FLSA compliance, and annual pay band updates. Coordinate and deliver agency-wide training programs and maintain training records. Provide guidance to supervisors and employees on HR policies, procedures, employee relations issues, and workplace concerns. Assist in resolving employee conflicts and support positive employee engagement initiatives. Develop, maintain, and update personnel policies, employee handbooks, and HR procedures. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations. Maintain personnel records, HR databases, and required reporting metrics. Coordinate workplace safety initiatives, OSHA compliance efforts, and workers' compensation programs. Serve as a backup for payroll processing when needed. Support special projects and organizational initiatives as assigned. This is an ideal position for a seasoned HR professional. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education or SHRM‑CP/SCP designation and related experience. Minimum of ten years of experience in human resources, payroll, benefits administration, or related functions. Strong knowledge of employment laws, HR best practices, benefits administration, leave management, and compensation practices. Experience with HRIS systems and Microsoft Office applications. Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving skills. Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to build effective relationships across all levels of the organization. Experience working in a nonprofit environment preferred. Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
