Senior Transportation Structural Engineer

Overview Job Overview: We are seeking a Senior Transportation Structural Engineer to lead the design of transportation structures projects. This senior-level role involves managing structural design for projects of varying size and complexity while ensuring adherence to schedules, budgets, and quality standards. Responsibilities Design of new and rehabilitated bridge projects. Ensure project schedules and quality standards are met. Maintain project scopes, budgets, and deliverables. Prepare contract bid documents and oversee construction phase services. Coordinate with subconsultants and internal teams. Lead design engineers and drafting personnel. Communicate effectively with clients and foster strong professional relationships. Required Skills Proven ability to manage structural design for engineering and construction projects of varying complexity. Strong knowledge of structural design principles for steel, reinforced concrete, and prestressed concrete components. Ability to multitask in a dynamic, team-oriented environment. Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills . Required Experience 12–20 years of relevant experience in structural design . Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Maryland . Experience with AASHTO LRFD bridge design standards . Experience working with the Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT) . Preferred Experience Master's degree in Civil Engineering (or related field). 6+ years of experience leading design engineers and drafting teams. Working Conditions Primarily office-based with occasional standing/walking. Sedentary work with adequate lighting and temperature control. Minimal exposure to noise, dust, or hazardous conditions. MUST HAVE Qualifications 12–20 years of structural design experience. Maryland PE license (active) . Experience with AASHTO LRFD bridge design . Experience with MDOT projects.
