The office isresponsible for monitoring progress toward the desired credentialor certificate as well as reviewing, analyzing, evaluating, andprocessing applications for credentials upon completion of theprogram(s). The office is responsible for insuring that educatorcandidates meet all standards and processes required by theCalifornia Commission on Teacher Credentialing. The office is theprimary source on campus for faculty, staff, and students who seekinformation regarding the credentialing process and fordisseminating new standards and practices approved by theCalifornia Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC). DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Evaluation & Credentialing: Knowledge Develop and maintain thorough and comprehensiveknowledge of all relevant credential requirements and policiesdetermined by Cal Poly Pomona Department of Education, theCalifornia State University system, and the California Commissionon Teacher Credentialing. The Incumbent acts as the liaison for the assigned credentialprogram faculty advisors, both within and outside the college, inworking with the assigned credential programs. Admissions Facilitate and complete the admissions evaluationfor candidates applying to enter the credential program, includingcalculation of GPA, and determine if they meet all requirements inaccordance with CTC, CSU, and CPP policies. Prepare a notification to applicants regarding the status oftheir file and individually review upon request. Work with program faculty to schedule program interviews foradmission, and process and communicate the results of the programadmission process to candidates. Progress Evaluation Monitor candidates' grades and evaluationsfor each grading period and consistently update the files and therelevant credentialing personnel or faculty as issues arise withprogram completion. Credential Evaluation & Recommendation Independently reviewapplications for credentials, checking for accuracy and completionof all state, CSU, and university requirements. (The incumbentassumes responsibility for final campus review of credentialapplications before recommending candidates through the CTC onlineprocess prior to recommendation for and issuance ofcredentials.) Communication Verify completion of program requirements to allinquiring school districts, county offices, and the CTC. Provide advice and evaluations to teachers trained outsideCalifornia, requesting information on the CPP program and thecredentialing process. Maintain close communication with relevant credentialingpersonnel or faculty on the status of candidates and any issuesthat emerge requiring program coordinator intervention. Maintain open, supportive, and professional communication withteacher candidates throughout the program. Clear Credential Evaluation Where applicable, determineeligibility for candidates who initially completed a preliminarycredential and have made application for a Clear (Tier II)credential. Out-of-State Evaluations Complete evaluations for CPPcredential completers requesting analysis for obtaining a teachingposition out of state. Credential Advisement and Applicant Consultation Individually consult by phone, drop-in meetings, and scheduledappointments as well as email with CPP students, students fromother campuses, states, and countries holding all levels and typesof education certifications and endorsements. Provide advice on California requirements, examinations,alternative coursework requirements, and appropriate means ofsatisfying credential requirements. Advising Work with program coordinator and other CSO staff toprovide regularly scheduled general advising sessions toprospective credential candidates. (Conducting advising sessionsrequires thorough knowledge of campus requirements, CSU-specificrequirements, and CTC requirements.) Where appropriate, work in concert with credential programfaculty or other CSO staff to provide specific advising sessionsfor candidates Credential Policy Updates, Professional Development, andAccreditation Support Attend workshops to improve counseling and advising forcredential candidates held at the Credential Analyst and Counselorsof California (CCAC) conferences and regional meetings, as budgetallows. Attend CSU credential workgroup and departmental workgroupmeetings as appropriate. Support credential services and departmental accreditationefforts Database Management Admissions Enter applicant information in PeopleSoft database and internalCredential MOD and continuously update and maintain information foruse by center staff and others in the college and university.Coding Code candidates in system to ensure accurate tracking. Update coding when necessary. Information Continuity Update database on status of candidatesas they progress through the program. Student Records When students have completed the process, purgeand prepare files for entry into the archival system Assessment Work with college Assessment & AccreditationCoordinator to complete necessary department, university, CSU,state, and federal reports. QUALIFICATIONS: Equivalency of two years of experience in the review, analysis,evaluation or processing applications for teaching credentials,certificates of permits. Equivalency of one year of the aboverequired experience may be equated with any combination of thefollowing: (a) Two years of experience processing academic recordsto determine eligibility for admissions or degrees. One year ofcollege level education (full-time equivalent) may be equated forup to one year of the academic record processing experience. OR (b)Two years of experience performing technical, clerical orsecretarial duties involving formulation, revision orinterpretation of academic requirements or course. One year ofcollege level education (full-time equivalent) may be equated forup to one year of the technical, clerical or secretarialexperience. Comprehensive knowledge of State standards and requirements forthe full range of teaching credentials; thorough knowledge ofeducational practices related to employment of teachers withcredentials, certificates, or permits in California school systems;a comprehensive understanding of the credential process; thoroughknowledge of school internship programs; and a general knowledge ofteacher preparation programs. Ability to interpret for others and correctly apply theCalifornia Education Code and other such regulations pertaining tothe insurance of the various credentials; certificates and permitsfor public school teaching and service in California; to organizeand plan work to meet deadlines; to schedule participants forinterviews, workshops or teaching related activities to evaluateacademic qualifications and determine credit to be granted towardscredentials, certificates and permits; to prepare correspondence,records and reports; and to establish and maintain cooperativeworking relationships with others. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree in education, public administration,counseling, student services, or a related field. Experience with California teacher credentialing requirements,processes, or systems. Experience using CTC Online, PeopleSoft, Credential MOD, orsimilar student/credential records systems. Experience providing credential-related information oradvisement to students, applicants, faculty, staff, schooldistricts, or external agencies. CSU Classification Salary Range This position is part of the APC bargaining unit 4. The CSUClassification Standards for this position are located on the CSU Classification Standards website. The classification salary rangefor this position according to the respective skill level is:minimum $5,054 and maximum $7,178 per month.
