The state supported living centers serve people with intellectual and developmental disabilities who are medically fragile or who have behavioral problems. The centers provide campus‑based direct services and supports at 13 centers located throughout the state. Free CEUs and updated resources through Lippincott access for all nurses. The RN Case Manager Supervisor performs highly complex nursing work overseeing the assessment, care and integrated treatment of individuals residing at the SSLC. Plans, organizes, and manages the daily activities of RN Case Managers in accordance with SSLC and HHSC policies and procedures, state and federal rules and regulations, and ICF‑IID standards. Sets goals and long‑range plans for SSLC RN case management services. Provides clinical direction and expertise to RN Case Managers. Oversees RN case management performance indicators. Performs audits and chart reviews. Oversight of the RN case managers’ interaction with individuals, teams and the quality of their participation in the individual’s interdisciplinary team (IDT). Provides feedback, takes corrective action, and coaches as needed. Develops and updates training curricula, provides in‑service training, and offers consultation to nurses, IDT members and others. Mentors new RN Case Managers and other nursing staff within scope of practice. Provides direct care nursing services and responds to urgent matters as needed. Works under the limited supervision of the Chief Nurse Executive (CNE) or Nurse Operations Officer (NOO) with latitude for independent judgment. This position may be eligible to earn additional pay for work performed on evenings, nights and/or weekends and for work performed at maximum security locations. Essential Job Functions (EJFs) Attends work on a regular basis, may work specific shift schedules, rotating schedule, extended shift and/or overtime. May serve on call on a rotating schedule as required. Sets goals and long‑range plans, hires and assigns caseloads, ensures appropriate distribution of workload, maintains staffing plans, and reassigns caseloads as needed. Conducts performance evaluations, promotes staff morale, and fosters a climate of productivity and quality improvement. Manages daily activities in compliance with policies and regulations. Oversees clinical direction, performance indicators, auditing, feedback, error resolution, and policy development. Supports interdisciplinary teams, ensures accurate documentation, and resolves conflicts. Implements local quality improvement plans and corrective action plans. Uses data to identify trends and improve case management. Develops training curricula and delivers training. Provides consultation, coaching, and technical assistance. Attends various meetings and participates in quality assurance activities. Provides direct care in urgent situations, administers medication, and treats HHS employees injured in the line of duty. Participates in disaster response and continuity of operations as required. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs) Knowledge of nursing techniques, standards, and procedures; of health care laws and regulations; of medical diagnoses and procedures; Knowledge of state and federal laws and ICF‑IID rules, regulations, and policies related to SSLC; Excellent verbal and written communication skills; Skill in patient care and treatment; Computer and EHR system proficiency; Time management and prioritization skill; Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills; Strong coaching skills; Ability to interact with individuals with IDD, families, and staff; Ability to provide patient care, maintain records, interpret policies and regulations, and recognize medical necessity patterns; Ability to communicate regulations both orally and in writing; Ability to organize, coordinate, and evaluate nursing activities; Ability to instruct, train, and supervise others; Ability to work independently and productively with all levels of staff; Ability to perform comprehensive physical assessments and identify abnormal findings; Ability to assess and integrate information for nursing judgment and care planning; Ability to provide nursing care for residents and/or staff in emergency situations; Must maintain current CPR certification and be physically capable of performing CPR. Registrations, Licensure Requirements or Certifications Licensed to practice as a registered nurse in the State of Texas or a state that recognizes reciprocity through the Nurse Licensure Compact. Initial Screening Criteria At least two (2) years of experience as a practicing registered nurse. At least three (3) years of experience in a health agency, hospital, or health‑care facility (preferred). At least two (2) years of RN Case Management experience (preferred). Bachelor's degree (preferred). Previous experience working with individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities (preferred).
