Job Description
Step into a dynamic school-based role utilizing your expertise as a Social Worker within pupil appraisal and special education evaluation. This contract position runs full-time (35 hours per week, Monday through Friday aligned with the school calendar) from ASAP through May 27, 2027, based in the greater New Orleans area. Make a substantial impact through collaborative work with a dedicated team serving students across 2-3 campuses.
Your background in performing comprehensive assessments, collaborating in multidisciplinary teams, and navigating Special Education eligibility processes will be highly valued. Rather than traditional direct social work services, you’ll focus on evaluations, re-evaluations, conducting testing, participating in SBLC/ABIT meetings, and monitoring intervention strategies. Your input will drive decisions that support students' access to appropriate Special Education resources, working closely with School Psychologists and Educational Diagnosticians.
Qualifications:
Current Louisiana Department of Education certification and active professional license required
Experience in pupil appraisal, Special Education evaluation, or similar school-based assessments
Strong organizational skills for managing an itinerant schedule across multiple campuses
Ability to conduct evaluations, re-evaluations, and testing efficiently
Familiarity with School Building Level Committee/Academic Behavior Intervention Team processes
Successful completion of fingerprint background and drug screen per district and agency guidelines
Responsibilities:
Carry out pupil appraisal functions to determine student eligibility for Special Education services
Accurately document and coordinate evaluation results within multidisciplinary teams
Monitor and track intervention efficacy and compliance
Attend and contribute to SBLC/ABIT meetings and coordinate with school staff as needed
